yeah, I screw up and leave stuff out of posts sometimes.

I know it's a lot of work adding in features to the board -- just throwing this out there. The board is, of course, fine without it. It would just be a convenience.

Infact, it was one of the first things people missed from the board. XK already started to implent it softly infact, but it's not apparently decided yet how it should be implented.

Be patient.

Woo hoo!

Yeah, I mess stuff up too. I particularly like my blank post I created because I hit "enter" (habit) after typing in my password while not logged in...

This feature will be implemented eventually. As it stands right now, a lot of work is being done on the board and many basic features (like this one) are taking some time to code in. Just sit tight awhile and it'll probably be there when you least expect it.

lol, that makes it sound like it's going to sneak up on us, ninja-style.

I hope it's not going to be a violent edit post feature.

Haha, yea. But it is true, features tend to just popup out of nowhere on here.

Cool. Thats good news.

I have to say I'm glad most of the quality posters, and especially, the great staffers (XKeeper, Acmlm, etc) have moved here. The other board is... suffering to say the least. I hurts my heart to see it in such disrepair.

you guys seen it recently? The "new version" of the board isn't even halfway done. Half the buttons say "Don't press yet"...

I glance over at it every little bit actually.. There actually isn't much to say about it, nothing interesting is going on there.. kind of boring all and all.

I created an account there when it was first reset in hopes that things would go back to normal, but it doesn't look like I'll be using that account much, if at all.

It takes time.

Something like this should be sticked so that no more "There Is No Edit Post Feature" threads will be made.

I strongly suggest that edits be logged to a table. One reason is that edit times could be time zone corrected and the names of the editors would update with name changes. The other reason is so that old versions of the post text could retained. Access to the old versions could be limited to the poster and staff. If a recent enough version of MySQL is used, a single DB query could be used to get all of the edits on the current page, and then the PHP script would match the the edits to the correct post.

Yeah, but people tend to ignore stickies.

I don't know that keeping all the old posts is a good idea. Most edits are either fixing typos or bad code, or just adding something to a post. Are the old versions really necessary?

Anyway, I suggest making it so edits aren't logged until someone replies (à la phpBB), and/or before a couple of minutes... because sometimes you just want to fix a post 2 seconds after having posted it.

It would prevent people from posting abusive content and then changing it before a staff member sees it, and if someone reports abusive content the staff can fully review the allegation. Also it would prevent data loss if a staff member goes on a power trip or thier password is compromised.

On the other hand, it would take up a fair load of database space, making backups bigger, etc... *shrugs*
