Hah, I thought you were just talking idly this morning.

I'll have to mess with it soon. Looks interesting enough.

There should be an option for "infinite life", but at the same time disabling the error detection, so thta winning is based on figuring out the entire puzzle.

Why don't you distribute all class files in a jar? Looks way cleaner.

Pretty nice otherwise. However I managed to get a ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException in my first session.

Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 10
at picmap.marked(picmap.java:230)
at picbig.mousePressed(picbig.java:423)

Now if I had the source I could probably easily fix that error. It seems like the exception doesn't stop the gameplay... but it's probably still a good idea to get it fixed.

I tried that but in my insanely-fucking-tired state I couldn't figure it out for the life of me. it wouldn't load images

Actually I know exactly what causes that (clicking outside of the playfield) and just haven't bothered fixing it because it does nothing. Reasons like this are why I labeled it v0.0b1

"Occasionally you will have "unsolvable" maps where the numbers indicate more than one solution, to counter this instead of eliminating the problem, I implemented a hit counter of number of wrong clicks you get until you fail a map."
The whole problem with that is sometimes you'd have to try the same map but do 3-4 different varaitions of it before you got the right one. At least until I write a solver/checker to eliminate those.

open up a console window and type "java -version" for me. it was compiled under 1.5.0_11, so anything before that is probably a bad idea.

Which is Free Picross in Picross DS and it's an absolute BITCH. If you mess up you might as well just start over or enjoy a bunch of trial and error.

I wish I could figure out why this isn't working for me... When I load it up, all I see is the numbers, everything else is blue. It just refuses to load any graphics. Why that doesn't work is beyond me. I have the same version of Java and Sonicandfails.

This is good. I request, however, that you implement the ability to click on the numbers you have already solved to somehow cross them off. It would make mistakes a lot easier to avoid. Literally every mistake I've made so far has come because I am creating my solutions based on numbers that I've actually already solved, and I don't catch myself in time.

Jordan/SnT: I'll see about compiling it on JDK 1.6 for the next release if I can.

Kles: Working on that feature now, actually I was thinking on having the numbers auto-check themselves but decided against it on the fact that games do too much for the player these days.

I'll see about adding that and an alternate play mode sometime later in the far future. as well as various toggles like the cursor and a stage mode.

Colin: its also wario picross in Super Mario Picross. If I had to give it a name I'd probably go with Ghost Picross.
