Right.

Today, I was at the job centre, trying to sort out this photography job with the local council. And one thing led to another, and I ended up talking to this guy who works for this agency in our local area. And he told me they're looking for 30 people (15 male, 15 female), to be models for a long shoot for this magazine (about two months).

And he said I had the right looks to be involved, and offered me a place. With a wage of.... £220 - £300 a day.

Holy shit.

But now, I'm kinda torn. Do I stay with my £7.50 an hour job with the local council? Or do I risk it for a £300 a day job as a model, which has a downside of only lasting for two months?

Hm.

Go ahead and take it. Extra experience in another field helps a lot.

Unless your photography job was sort of long-term job...

Well, it could have ended up being long term...but mostly it was just to keep me going until I find something better.

Well, then just take it.

The high income could get let you survive quite sometime after your model job ended Plus, I'm pretty sure its quite easy to find a temporary job other there

Yeah, I just dont understand how anyone could think I'm attractive enough to be a model, because I'm seriously not. I'm slightly worried it wont turn out well, I guess.

And it's not just photographs too apparently, I'd be working on helping with filming and stuff too. Which sounds great.

I'd be wary of it, personally. I haven't got a very high opinion of modelling to start with, and all I ever hear is that it's an industry that screws people over.

What you've probably get to remember is that you won't be earning £300 a day, every day. You'll be paid that when jobs come up. At the moment, you have no guarantee as to how much work you'll be given. I'd keep you day job and work towards something you really want to do.

If you're considering money to be the top option, I'd probably jump on it in a second (except I know for a damned fact I would -never- be looked up for the job). Sides, if they're desperate and they're paying, I don't care how I look (to an extent).

Moving cautiously, just like everyone else said. Usually, if it's too good to be true, it is.

Being a male model is an odd thought. My dads friend made an offer and a suggestion that I could with my face. Kind of weird all the same, though it would certainly be a great opportunity to make money. I almost feel as if I'd be a sell out if it I did. I have the fashion sense of a rock and could care less what one set of clothes 'looks better' than another. Blegh, not my cup of tea. Damn money. Besides, I'm convinced I'm nothing special. Just another person out there. I didn't ask for any of this, I didn't ask for my parents, for my genes, any of that... I just am.

As Zaphod Beeblebrox's shrink would tell you, "Vell, He's just some guy, you know?"

Maybe that chance will come around again *shrugs*. It's just weird because when men think 'model' they think 'hot girl'. It's a bit emasculating to attribute what is perceived to be a feminine profession to a man. Hope it works out for you.

That's pretty much it, provided that it isn't shady. I mean it's not like you're in high school anymore...and even if you were it's a matter of cash over a high school ego. lollerdramszz

Hiryuu: I think Toxic is saying to do it FOR the ego. The part they don't have to know is that it was only one day.

Everything else I would say has already been said.

Try to calculate how long you have to work on this council to earn as much as this two months job. I have no idea how many hours you do work, or how many days this job would be on.

But from the sounds of it, I would go for it.

Well yeah, if it's like something grungy, clearly you don't want to do that.

Go for the model and then finsd another low paying job afterwards. Simple as that.

I was asked to be a teen model when I was like 13, but my mom wouldn't let me do it. I think she made the right choice, but good luck with that.

I don't really follow that logic. It's true that there are more female models than meale, but the business needs a specific sex for specific clothes, so if they're going to advertise clothes for men, obviously they're going to need male models to model them.
