Metal was "invented" by Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple in England. These bands pionered many of the hallmarks of the genre that are staples of the genre today as early as 1969, and even inspired cornerstone bands such as Iron Maiden and Metallica.

Therefore, England is considerably more metal than thou.
