Just testing out a style of making panels for my webcomic.

Slapped on a background in 5 seconds, and there ya go.
I know the lineart is a tad too thick; that's not gonna happen. I'm working on ways to thin it out, now, actually.

Comments, por favor.

Xkeeper is getting too comfortable with the quote button, methinks.

The text and textbox don't fit at all. I don't know what it is, but it feels clashing. The left character is looking fowards (towards us), yet the text indicats "to the right".

Comics suck that way. It might be better to exclude direction from the text entirely and let the characters themselves show where it's coming from.

Ahh, very good point, X. Thanks; didn't even realize that 'til you pointed it out.

Pretty much what X said.

If it's left, have it point left; right - right, behind or forwards - none at all.

I would suggest the textbox is given a semi-transparent look with a possible glow or emboss/bevel.

Why?

The pure white clashes with the rest of the panel.

No. That'd make it stand out too much and distract from the art in the panel.

I have no experience with speech bubbles. I have no way to help fix it for the better.

Although the artwork is good minus the flaws already presented.

I altered it. Hopefully it looks a bit better with the change I made to the speech bubble.

Ok, perhaps just a semi-transparent would do the white of the speech bubble justice.

I think he's trying to say something around the lines of making the BG to the speech bubble about 80% or 90% opacity so the background art isn't completely cut away. I guess that'd work but that's really a matter of preference.

By the by, much better.

The speech bubble is alright I guess, but I don't like how you've drawn the characters.
I mean, look at her lower armpit. The brushwork there looks really choppy.

I didn't mean that...
I meant the edge of her shirt or whatever, near the armpit. Look at the edge of it.

I had to eyeball it since the panel was a little overly sized, and I didn't feel like doing it again.
All I have is a mouse and Photoshop 6. Don't expect miracles. I'm still learning.
Thanks for pointing it out, Sam.

Not to mention, most of these things take years of time to get completely right. The fact that you're -consistently- working on it (and have been over a long period of time) is proof enough that you'll get something that you'll eventually like and run with it.

Two things I can think of that went from readable to really good was Dominic Deegan and EGS and Clockz had a better start than either of them, really.

I'd really wonder how the would progress three-to-five years from now.

Hey, it's alright.
From a guy who says he's "only learning" and with only a Mouse and Photoshop 6, that's pretty damn good!

Well, since we're all talking about the comic now, I might as well leak some information and unfinished work then...

Good luck reading any of the penciled in dialog. If you want translations (lol), just ask. I'm not gonna post 'em unless people ask me to, 'cause I'm lazy like that.

Link 'cause image is big
Page one, sketch.
Again
Page two, sketch.
Aaaand... again.
Page three, sketch.

I'm not gonna start lineart/coloring until I get a good 20 pages ahead, so I can update the eventual site without worrying about getting work done on time.

Comments, helpful or not, are appreciated (but I prefer helpful ones).
