Sort of like the "post your desktop" thread, but with the (Windows) system tray instead.

Taskbar Shuffle (row #2, column #2) is a really great program to have, drag your taskbar entries around!

Contents: Wifi, Ethernet disconnected, sound volume, remove hardware
Charging, Taskbar Shuffle, Daemon Tools, Avast!
Notebook Hardware Controls, Sysinternals Process Explorer (cpu usage meter in tray)

Now if this was a "Post your Quicklaunch Bar" thread, then a few years ago, mine would be several screens large. I decided to put basically every program from the start menu I might use into the quicklaunch bar. (still sized the bar small so only 8 icons are visible, it's the >> chevron where all the action is at!)

(edit: Fixed image, was posted in a restricted area before)

That image is broken for me...

But yes, I also use Taskbar Shuffle (row 3, column 4 in previous post). It comes in very handy, especially when coding, because I'll have a bunch of files and web pages open and it's nice to be able to order them so I'll be able to find them all easily.

I used to do that, eventually I organized my quicklaunch bar by putting programs into folders because nothing fit on there, which seemed to work better =P

Being a person with the expertise and desire to keep my computer in good, working condition, I don't clutter it up with a bunch of crap.

Oftentimes system tray applications are not crap per se. They are just applications minimized to the system tray.... not to mention I often use all the ones that appear here:

Thanks to XP's super-convenient collapsing feature, I never really pay attention to the crap in it.

edit: I suck, mistaking <a href for <img src.

Wow... so... exciting.

This is my desktop's taskbar, actually. My laptop has Utorrent running all the time, yet still doesn't upload diddly squat. =\

Only 7 of those are shown when I have my icons hidden.

[Edit] Updated. New GUI along with... well, a clock.

I do not run an operating system that has a "System Tray".

Best I can show you is my Dock. And I won't.

It has Finder, Quicksilver, Firefox, Adium and iTunes. And that's it.

Oh my lord. Four Applications? Jeez.
My Dock contains Finder, iPhoto, AppleWorks, iTunes, MacIrssi, System Preferences, MSN Messenger, Firefox, Garageband, iChat, BitTorrent, HP Scan Pro, MilkyTracker, 0xED, SNES9x, and after the separator, there's Donkey Kong Country.smc, TileMolester, Macromedia, rflpage and the Trashbin.

I got rid of iTunes.

And yes, that makes three applications.

But one of those applications is Quicksilver, which amongst other things can be used as a launcher. The Quicksilver icon effectively then is also any other application or file I wish to open. Just click (or use the keyboard shortcut) and start typing...

I still think the Dock is the single dumbest application management utility ever created, but that's besides the point.
