That's pretty nifty. I'm going to guess that music edits aren't particularly common, right? They sound good (with special note to the underground theme, which is almost unrecognizable from before), and the fireball thing is neat, too.

On the other hand... please try to maintain your composure when posting. It's a bit hard to take someone seriously who swears every other word.

KP: If you're referring to the fireballs, they're still only one hit per enemy, so how would it affect Bowser any different from before?

He's right.

Each frame of the game that the fireball is on bowser's hit box collects as a hit. You can kill him with 1 fireball. I'm not going to change it, I'm probably going to change the castles though.

This suggestion would be epically hard to pull off but it would make this hack made of win and awesome:

Hack in a dialog system and make enemies pop up quotes with the aforementioned horrible English as they pop on screen and/or get killed.

The only way I can think of making it do that, is to use the score popup effects.

You know, what would be awesome is if you could replace the level theme music in this hack to the Tetris Mode A music:

http://vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/gameboy/Tatrisa.mid

Because, you know, it's the Borat theme afterall.

I don't think that's going to happen: All he did was alter a couple of bytes in the music data to pull of what he did, most likely by randomly changing values until it was something that wouldn't want to make you puncture your eardrums after more than 20 seconds of listening.

This puts it in the realm of Jomb-style "music hacking".

Ah damnit. I only watched the video after I made that post.

But either way, if he wants this to truely be a memorable Borat hack, he should put some effort into putting that track into it.

If he did somehow learn to alter that music, it could make a good endgame music or something. Probably a reward for finishing.

I like the hack.

I like the idea most of all. And maybe you should change the fireball sprite as well as the enemies? Make it all more borat?

This hack reminds me of my current hack The Legend Of Zelda: The Life Of Brian where everyone assumes he's the hero of time (again) but this time he isn't.

Except it actually sounds pretty good. :/ Reminds me of Strange Mario Bros., to be honest

If you weren't going to do it already, the levels look too similar to the original (1-2 notably). Fix that please.

I wasn't even actually trying to fully change the levels originally.
But I'll make it into a level hack later on.

This hack looks very good. I like the new Mario graphics so that they look like borat and the breakable bricks look very nice now. I haven't seen many Super Mario Bros. Hacks lately so I found this very fun. I like it and hope to see you work on it some more.

I thought vulgarity and audacity were consistent with Borat. If this hack was made after the same fashion, it would offend a whole lot of people and yet be funny in it's own right (though opinion is subjective).

As for your music hacking, it sounds somewhat like what I managed to do randomly corrupting data in a zelda 2 nsf (also a broken sounding smb1 one). I'm not sure, but they may only play well in emulators or nsf players. It sounds like he is manipulating the tempo of the instruments with a few or more sweet spots in a hex editor. Careful corruption methods would probably be good for this, if you aren't already using some kind of technique (though I don't personally practice them, I know the idealology somewhat. If I'm mistaken please correct me).

Please continue, CKY. I'm interested to see where this goes.

Yeah, well I did a little more updates

The fists are reduced from 64 frame intervals to 32 frames,
and as you can see in the video, they come out much faster, and a little bit faster going down but not as fast coming out. And the animation in my sig is the redo of it.

I'm probably going to try to edit more enemy attributes later on.

Holy crap, I wish I knew how to use my own custom space for music storage because that would be much more easier for making music.

This is awesome. It's comedic, and it's technically impressive. I love the intentionally spoofy music, it's awesome - it's like those commercials you see with a clearly recognizable tune, but cheaply changed as to avoid getting sued. It's classic! XD

Also, the majority of you suck for not being able to take a joke hack. I think the "eat my shit" blocks were totally within context, especially considering the whole premise of the hack (I mean, come on, it IS Borat). And overlooking all that, it's obvious he's putting work into it - ASM edits, music edits, nice art edits, level design, the works. I just think it's extremely shallow to expect some sort of undebatable standard from people when they create a hack. If someone wants to make a joke hack, that's fine - if it sucks, we bash it for sucking. If, in this case, it DOESN'T suck, and there's obvious effort and comedic value in it, I see no reason why it should be bashed simply for being a joke hack.

You all know damn well if I put Tina in Sonic 1 or something it'd be hilarious and awesome. Not everyone has to follow a single type of humor though (ie, it shouldn't be reduced to injokes).
