I'm just saying that he thought he needed 10 sentences to tell someone their OPINION is wrong, opinions can't be wrong because they aren't facts =P , plus he didn't need 10 sentences to say
"I think that what you said that had nothing to do with the original topic is wrong" ____________________ |

Opinions can be credible or misinformed though. |

, it is my opinion that they shouldn't snake in multiplayer, besides, blue shell hackers will own that anyways XD
it can be done to unlock stuff and beat first player, in fact it should be done in first player, just i like to have a game where everyone has a fair chance of wining... 'cept SSBM.... then I just win against people until they die >=D ____________________ |

Posted by Shadic Depends on the tactic. Rapidly pressing L (X) to drop bananas or the like : fine Overusing a speed assist (mini-turbos) : wrong |

Posted by tyty210Step 1: Purposely fall behind. Step 2: Get blue shell/star Step 3: Trail close till the end of the race Step 4: Stop them at the finish line Step 5: VICTOLY BTW: I still havent heard a good argument as to why snaking is horrible and should be banned and blah blah blah. Also: +5 points for the article Kyouji ____________________ |

Posted by Mattrizzle87 Well of course. There's a big difference between using something that's part of the game and using an external device to do something that wouldn't be possible normally. |

Posted by tyty210Um, ok... I would own you in SSBM tyty210: "omg snaking is cheating" - No, you are wrong. Cheating (definition from dictionary.com): "To violate rules deliberately, as in a game" Well tell me, what rules are they violating when using the snaking technique? Oh, thats right, NONE. Using an ARDS is cheating, snaking is not. This is not opinion, this is fact. Deal with it. ____________________ |

The only "problem" with snaking is that it gives such a big boost in that game. And it's not really a problem because anyone can do it. It's cheap, but it's not cheating. Hacking or glitching is cheating.
BTW, why do you complain about snakers? Between hackers, the time it takes to actually find an opponent and get a race started without getting disconnected just before the green light, and the overall suckiness of the implementation, this game's online play is ruined without the aid of snakers. |

It's cheap to people who can't do it/don't bother/some other excuse.
If you don't want to snake, don't play with snakers. Find your own combatants. And if you see a snaker, turn the damn system off if it's that big a deal, not throw a hissy. I myself wouldn't want to play with snakers. I guess the best way to surmise it is this: last year, before highschool ended and all, my friends and I would spend some days playing our DSes in our library. Once we got back into Mario Kart, we were laughing and all that good stuff. One guy wanted to be the one in first all the time, so he praciced snaking 'til there was no one who could catch up to him; from all the memories of bad-mouthing and random sheepish remarks, we all laughed and enjoyed our game, while the snaker finished the race and really, no five-star rape happens or massive air due to combined items or even just trying to ram another player a pixel behind you--we had fun, and that's because we were all playing at the same skill level. If we were all snaking it'd be nothing more, but as it is, I'd rather use an environment than abuse a mechanism, even if it isn't abusing. |

Posted by AlastorPosted by ShadicShadic is right. I can't possibly say this without sounding incredibly arrogant, but I have defeated several people who were at the time the world champion.Posted by SinfjotleHave fun losing. So, Miguel Rodriguez, Sascha Brauninger (FalcoX), Thomas Bolton (TB1) and Lars Stelzig? I honestly do not seem what the problem is with snaking. I mentioned it earlier, but now I'm going link to it: http://www.sirlin.net/Features/feature_PlayToWinPart1.htm Read this and still see if you're against snaking. edit: holy shit Alastor already posted that link |

If you mean Mark Jones, he wasn't really... uh, a champion.
You might mean Michael Fried, though. (mjf315 I believe) |

Fine, so I guess it is just another boosting tactic. But I would rather play against them willingly (or, when I feel like it) instead of when I'm looking for someone else.
If I know the skill of my opponent for sure, I'll choose whether or not I want to play them. Seeing some W/L record doesn't give me enough info. What I think I'm getting at is, if I know they're a snaker before I turn the game on, the odds of me playing them ups. Or at least, that's what I'm trying to tell myself. |
