Heh, you think that's bad? The X-Naut Fortress theme from PM2 uses some o8s and o9s .. I gave up after I saw how long it was going to take

Oh, and Darklink .. I made Corridors of Time for you. It's one of my better pieces, so lucky for you I didn't screw anything up, I think. Listen to the .spc first and let me know what you think.

SPC

And if you want to use it in your hack, here is the TXT

TXT

Note: It was a big and long song, so in order to use this, you will have to get rid of 18.txt, meaning instead of 8 OW songs, you only have 7 choices. It doesn't matter though, since only 7 can be used on the OW anyway

Enjoy.

I you already mentioned this:

Posted by S.N.N.

Just tried working with a YI one, but then I realized those aren't too exciting.
So, would it be possible to create the different variations of the YI Map Music please?
Seeming as this is only for the overworld map bank for the time being until someone thinks of a way to import new music in any music bank.

Many thanks...

Can you make the SML main theme?

Ok, now I'm just being overrun with requests, heh. I said I would write a tutorial to someone last night in a PM, so I will do that.

lwares: The map music for YI is very possible. I already did one in about 5 minutes, then deleted it because I thought no one would care/want it. Which world do you want?

Would it be possible to have all of the them please?

Many thanks...

Edit: It's a shame we cannot add music to the other music banks yet.
Although, at least it will be worth the wait, as it's not worth risking switching the music banks over with each other.

All of them? Well, there's seven, and each one has more channels. That could take all day of non-stop editing to get it right I really, really need to get that tutorial up and running.

I have been making music for levels too just in case we find out a way to do it .. that way there will be variety when the time comes.

Okay, to make this easier how about you just do the "Map Complete" music instead of doing all the others that way you know how the others will sound like without the extra bits from later maps added on.

Eh. I'll give it a go I guess. Others have requested it too, so it will benefit them also.

If anyone is interested, I compiled all the songs I have made into one post of SPCs. If anyone wants the TXT file so they can put it in their hack, let me know. I have a couple unfinished requests, but if anyone wants a song of their choice made up for their hack, please post it here and I'll see what I can do (I have one CT, YI, and a few Metroid songs to do at the moment, heh)

Chrono Trigger - Corridors of Time (Zeal)
Donkey Kong Country 2 - "Lockjaw's Saga"
Final Fantasy 3 - World of Darkness
Paper Mario - Dry Dry Desert currently unfinished
Paper Mario - Toad Town
SMB3 - World 4
SMB3 - World 5
SMB3 - World 8
SMRPG - Midas River
SMRPG - Rose Way
SMRPG - Star Hill
SMRPG - Trouble Ahead also unfinished
Yoshi's Island - World 1
Yoshi's Island - World 2
Yoshi's Island - World 3
Yoshi's Island - World 4
Yoshi's Island - World 5
Yoshi's Island - World 6
Zelda - Ocarina of Time - Temple of Time

More will be added to this list because .. y'know .. there's a ton of games with a ton of songs in each

EDIT: Yoshi's Island songs added. I'll put up the txts if people like them.

Nice work so far! Although, there are some things that I need to point out:

1) World 1 is spot on, no need to change that.
2) Nice attempt on World 2, but it sounds a bit wrong. Check with the original.
3) World 3 sounds the same as World 2.
4) Why does it start quiet then gets louder?

Looking forward to the rest. Although, before moving from one to the next check the previous one as well as checking the original because, as you already know this tune builds up as it goes along per map adding a new part to the song. That's why I suggested starting from the end and working backwards so you know what to take off in order to make the other tracks.

I think there are other games which do this but I personally don't know which though!

"init is case-sensitive. It needs to be INIT.

lwares: I know what you are talking about. I'll shape it up and repost them. Also, working backwards would actually be harder - with this case, I started at one channel, and then it's just a matter of copying and pasting, and then octave and rest swapping to fix it.

Dont write it like that. Just do this.

1. type in D:
2. type in cd SPC
3. type in addmusic smw.smc INIT
4. type in addmusic smw.smc
5. Done.

Mine does that too- watch the volume control. At least for me, WinAMP likes to raise the volume up on it's own

MadMikeXP: The instrument table is at the start of every song, preceded by an @ sign. Use #0-28 if you plan on changing anything. Also, note it is in decimal format, NOT hex.

Also, the volume is consistent throughout the whole song, it is just Winamp. It screws up MIDIs too for me, and kills the sound in all my programs. Run it in-game and you will see that it works better.

I suppose it's like composing a bunch songs from scratch and putting them together to create one or many songs.

I see that it would be easier to work from the beginning instead of the end. That way you know what to add on to create the rest of the songs by just looking at the original song/s.

Anyway, I've said too much to put you off a slight bit, but anyway at least you're gaining experience by doing this.

Edit: Anyone feel free to post any more suggestions for songs, problems with using OWMUSIC or just to tell me to shut up because, it feels like I'm wasting my time talking which is most likely getting on everyone's nerves typing and posting like serveral paragraphs of text per post...

Huh? It should be me who shuts up, I'm just back-and-forthing with everyone in this thread Besides, theres nothing wrong with questions - it's not like you're asking me how to load a ROM into LM or something, this isn't the easiest thing in the world.

I'll work on the rest of YI, and then post all seven at once. If there is anything else anyone would like, don't hesitate to ask and I will try to do it. The more practise I get, the better the songs will sound in the end.

True, I agree with you S.N.N.

Gee... it's a shame I haven't had a go at this yet as this is nearly as hard as what Matrizzle is doing at the moment with his SMB. 2 Music Patch.

Alright, here's the deal. I did worlds 4 5 and 6 (and 6 was a bitch to make because of the channels) and fixed 1 2 and 3. I won't repost the edited ones for now, mainly because I'm lazy, but I'll post the last three.

World 4
World 5
World 6

Once they are "approved" I will post the .txt. I also trimmed the sizes down on each one to 3 KB for easy inserting and no worries of running out of room

EDIT: Also, I got bored and made this from scratch. It's only one channel.
