Okay, your typing was a litte vague, I:
Typed C:\addmusic\addmusic.bat addmusic smw.smc INIT
I got:
11.txt ???? =1789
???= ???????? java.io.filenNotFoundException:addmusic *access is dinied* (stars are brackets again)
then i typed addmusic smw.smc
It would say 11.txt
track0: _ bytes
track1: _ bytes
track2: _ bytes
track3: _ bytes
track4: _ bytes
track8: _ bytes
(to clairify, "_" was a amount of bytes I didn't catch.)
then it would move to 12.txt and do the same thing, and so on. then at the end, it said
?? 2295 ???
?????????????????

Then i would set the yoshi's island sound to 11 on the OW map in LM, (which still said "Not used.." Is that right?)
then opened it up, and on yoshi's island (with a new game) it had no sound at all. not even sound effects.

Did i misunderstand?

Exactly the same happened to me.
I've got an old Java, is that the problem?

No, I don't think so, Darklink. I have the newest java. I think java really doesn't have much to do with it- if you have windows, i am almost sure you have a working java program.

Make sure the destination path is the right folder. (I.E. cd\desktop\owmusicfolder\) and then once you're in the folder, type the "addmusic smw.smc INIT" once, then "addmusic smw.smc"

But yeah, you need the newest version of Java, so that may be part of darklink898's problem.

Maxx, did you even listen to what I said? Leave out the addmusics.bat part. Just type addmusic smw.smc INIT and after that addmusic smw.smc.

Ice Man is right, I missed that. The .bat will not work, as it is just an extension. You just need addmusic.

Also, I found out why only one song can be inserted. Thanks you my amazing ?????? translating skills, it turns out that the actual lines of text can't exceed a certain amount .. meaning if you have a horizontal scrollbar on the bottom, it's too long. After I fixed it up, my Rose Way and Star Hill worked.

Oh, and for those interested:

SMB3 Sky World
TXT

Heh, those are a cakewalk compared to SMRPG.

Oh, by the way, if anyone has any reasonable song requests, fire them off and I'll see what I can do. Now that I know what I'm doing, they should sound fine.

EDIT: Hooray for my first written-from-nearly-scratch remake of world 4 in SMB3.

Big Island
TXT

Okay, I am sorry IceMan, the typing was vague and i was being a complete and total retard and idiot. I misunderstood. Now, everything happens like you say- until i find that i cannot open it in LM- because it has no 200 byte header. It does all that you say, just not that.

Oh that one is easy. The patch only works if the ROM has been opened in LM BEFORE patching it.

AAT LASSST! THANK YOOOOOUUUU! Both Ice Man and S.N.N thanks for putting up with me (and hopefully, this will stop 70059395 other n00bs from doing so as well... as long as the n00bs that see this read the entire thread.)

Though people will still ask, unfortunately

EDIT: What is this?!?!

Take a listen
.TXT

This is like, the only song in that game that will actually work this easily. I should try another

Why do people (like me) always start hacks right before a huuuge discovery. Worst of all, I had just hit the point where I had done too much work to throw away... ah well. This is just a hip new fad... those little whippersnappers.

Maxx: You can insert the music in a hack in-progress, you just need to import the music onto a clean 1MB ROM, then export all your data and ExGFX from your 2MB ROM onto the 1MB. Once you INIT once on the ROM, it is permanent and can always be used, no matter what size it is.

Also, here's two new songs for those interested:

SMB3 Dark World - now with extra eerie-ness.
.TXT

And:

Dry Dry Desert - this one is unfinished, so people who listen to it will notice some off-key notes .. I just thought I'd show the skeleton of it.

Since you're making so many songs(S.N.N.), could you accept a request?
Corridors of Time. I'm not sure if it's possible, but if it is, I'd really aprecciate if you made it.

Ah, Chrono Trigger. There are no ties in that song, so I'll give it a shot. I'll need to download a .mid of it though, so don't expect the exact instruments.

Quick edit: I just popped it in, and it looks very possible. Actually, quite easy However, I have been doing this all day (it was raining ) so I should have it to you by tomorrow easily.

Here is a song I'm currently working on. Just need to change some instruments, I think, unless you guys/girls like it.

Sounds pretty good Ice Man .. but I had a question for you. When you insert it, does it do that thing where no songs after it get inserted? Because here and then I hear an octave going too high. It doesn't sound bad though

It works fine. As I said, it's the octaves being messed up. Like you said, sometimes you need to changes < and > or change the octaves. Also, in some songs you may find o7, change it to o6 as there isn't any o7 octave in SNES music.
