If it's released on even one system where games are easily copied, pirates will likely just ignore the ban in their country and download it.

Only the legitimate paying customers are getting ripped off by a "ban". Those far outnumber the pirate users too for most software.

I don't think many of you guys would even -play- it and you're pissed off...

I actually have a name for this phoenomenon. "The GPL Effect". Basically, back when GPH wasn't complying with the Linux GPL, it got slashdotted, and a fuckton of people who don't know anything about the system, or the company, or the situation, nor care, started attacking GPH for the sake of blindly sticking up for GPL.

That's kinda what we're doing, I think. We're annoyed that a game got censored, nevermind the fact we'd never play it. I don't know why we're annoyed with it, because it sounds like a game that has a stupidly large amount of gore in it for the sake of being edgy. I remember playing GTA. I didn't really care for it. Now I've seen a few people I know play the newer GTAs, saying they're awesome, and uhh... no they're not. It's just some guy stealing cars and getting the cops after him. It's no different from the first 5 games. Oh you can shoot prostitutes whoopee.

I dunno, people these days like violence and gore and stuff because I guess like Valcion said, it makes them feel like hardcore badasses for playing the game. It like all those idiots on facebook that want the audio applications to autostart. Why? So you can shove your song down everyone's throats? What satisfaction do you get from that? "I want everyone to know that I listen to this song! It makes me feel cool!"

Same thing.

Right now, it looks it won't be released anywhere, anyway

Sony's, apparently, is they won't allow the console to play any AO-rated content (as in some form of DRM that prevents you from watching pr0n movies). I'm guessing that's just poor wording, but them being Sony...

Then what would be the point of even releasing in on PS3? (I assume the PSP doesn't have such a feature because it was released 2 years before the PS3 was, unless there's some sort of patch.)

And two words, Nintendo: Parental Control. Did you already forget about that feature of the Wii?

Hey, let's bash on a private company for exerting their legal right to not run a game that will yield dubious profits and obvious bad press!

That's still not foolproof. Jimmy can go to Darek's house and play the game.

Jimmy can also find out that the password* is the name of the family dog and play the game.

(* - Dunno what type of password the Wii uses. If it's a number, then it's his mom's birthday.)

And apparently the ESRB has rated a lot of games AO in the past - but that never got out and the publishers were allowed to modify the game's content to get a M rating. The obvious example (although it happened after the game was released, of course) is San Andreas.

Try portmanteau or something instead of outlandish jargon next time?

But colin, there's a obvious difference between this game and GTA in that this game ranks a few orders of magnitudes worse with respect to social norms.

Wusses. What do they have to fear from a game? Only someone who´s messed up in the head would go out and do something like this for real.

And that´s why games get a lot of craptalk.

Only someone who´s messed up in the head three quarters of the press would go out and do something like this for real associate this one game with the whole of the market on any given console and continue to promote fearmongering involving the industry.
Fixed?

(Sorry, I couldn't express that thought any other way.)

Also, that final statement ("And that's why games get a lot of craptalk") makes no sense whatsoever given the context of the rest of your post. Make sense next time you try to make an assertion.

Just thought I would bring this up...
The ESRB?
Yea, guess who it is run by...

ESA.
The same ESA as the ones who hit ROM sites up for their lunch money.
Sons of bitches.

Too fucking funny.
