This time, for the Brits...

Seems Manhunt 2 is a bit too much.

Bah. As long as it´s a game I see no problem with it. People are too wimpy when it comes to games.

I don't like the fact that bans like this makes it seem like you don't need to be a responsible adult.

It's not helping at all.

Think of it this way, it wasn't slaughtered like Re4 in Germany, I heard there everything was censored!

Pretty much agreed there.

It's like 'ooo banning, let the government do the parent's job'.

Whatever happened to that responsibility? Did it die with convenience? Sure there are ratings there for movies and games but does it have to be banned just because someone doesn't agree with what everyone else should view? We're all freaking green monsters as it is anyways...

COPS is a heavily watched TV show if you need me to say more...

Well it's coming to America, it has an AO rating now. Also I'll download it a couple days before release and let you all know how bad it is.

The ultra-violent videogame Manhunt 2 allows you to rape a woman shortly after you beheaded her in the brothel level called Honey Pot. Members of the ESRB were shocked when Daniel Lamb used his male reproduction organ and simulated a penetration in the bloody hole. Other gruesome parts include microwaving a living cat to death and being a witness of necrophilia in a cemetery in one of the later stage of the game.

I think responsibility died BECAUSE of convenience. And I agree with what we watch, gee government ban that why don't ya? I think we could spare some blood and gore...

Parents can control what their kids watch... Isn't that what they had on that stupid repetitive commercial?

Why can´t they just say Penis like everyone else?

I´ll have to imagine that it sounds quite gruesome for me too.

It's a penis, you dolts!

He was jacking off a dead lady.

Nothing too new or interesting in this day and age.

There's one little problem with the game coming to America now...

It's been denied release by Nintendo and Sony.

And considering the game's coming out for the PS2, PSP and Wii... they have no choice. They either have to appeal the decision to the ESRB, tone down the game or can it. I'm guessing they'll have to tone it down because the appeal's going to be a waste of time and canning the game... waste of money.

"It's currently our policy not to allow the playback of AO-rated content on our systems," a Sony spokesperson told GameSpot.
Thanks, Mom. I enjoy you being the parents and telling us children what we can and can't do with our console.

Sigh.

Nintendo's always had a "no AO game" policy, apparently. And Sony has the same one apparently, so nobody should go off on the "Wii is a kiddy system!!!" trolling like I saw on Kotaku today until the news broke that Sony said the same thing. They'll gladly publish the game if it's M rated, but that's about it.

(And Microsoft also said that if the game was to be released for the 360, it would be denied release too.)

Not a whole lot of retailers (and none of the major ones) will sell AO games to boot.

So let's see...

...that's banned.

MPAA will now usually give anything that involves cigarettes an R rating.

Gee are we getting our lives run by special interest groups or what?

Next thing you know, it'll be reckless endangerment to play God of War within a 100 foot vicinity of a five-year-old...even if not in the same household!

"MOMMY I THINK I HEARD GORY SHIT IN THAT APARTMENT!"

"Where did you learn 'gory'?"

Reread Xk's post. Nintendo's policy is they won't allow AO-rated games to be published. Sony's, apparently, is they won't allow the console to play any AO-rated content (as in some form of DRM that prevents you from watching pr0n movies). I'm guessing that's just poor wording, but them being Sony...
