Over the past week or so, one of the three fans in this computer has decided to go from hardly making a sound to very loud. I have no idea why though. Last night I opened up the case and used compressed air to clean all of the fans off and get all the dust out of it (it still smelled a little of smoke, even though my dad quit over a month ago and no one else does in this house ). Even though I did that last night, the sound still persists. I'm sure that it's not the power supply fan or the CPU fan, as they are both blowing a steady stream of air out of the case. The only one left is the fan on the Video Card. It's an ATI Radeon X700 Pro, purchased shortly after the release of Civilization IV (whenever that was). It never made a sound until recently, and I'm kind of worried that it might die soon due to fan failure. I can't afford to get a new Video Card for the moment, so does anybody have any ideas as to what the problem is and what might fix it?

Replace your noisy fans. Just do it. Fans are really really cheap. Components are not.

Another thing you can do is lubricate it. Some fans need lubrication every now and again.

Well, whats stupid is that shortly after clicking submit, the noise died down and wasn't nearly as loud as I've heard it in the last few days. Also, I so poor I can't even afford replacement fans, and if I could, I'd probably get the wrong one somehow...

(Actually, the CPU fan is the only replaceable one, anyways. The others would either need to be a new video card, or a new power supply.)
