Yeah, R/B/Y's coding is total shit, G/S/C's is very good. I suspect they had a few n00bs on the first team who managed to either improve their skills or get fired by the time they started on G/S/C, and management was probably better too. (None of this use plain hex here and BCD there crap.)

Yeah Gold's graphic compression is simple. You can even repoint the pointers to uncompressed graphics and it'll work just fine, which is VERY helpful.
Hm, the way I understood the format, that shouldn't actually be happening and is probably just a coincidence. Or does the game actually check for the absence of a compression header? You'll notice for example tileset 1 isn't compressed for some reason, but still has the headers (just every one of them says 1024 bytes of raw data ).

Also back on the primary topic, I have a BIG plan to shape up the Pokemon hacking community, should be ready by next month, and I'm sure you'll all like it. A few other veteran Pokemon hackers are also helping me with this. Some as far back as from the days of PPN and Total Anime.
Hm, care to elaborate?

Don't worry, only the good ones. (No "Shiny Mangimon"s for sure)

Oh yeah, everyone check this shit out. Rememeber how I said these people weren't original? Well heres more proof:

Screenshot of one of my hack's (Prism's) sidescrolling areas. (Beta released June 6th 2007)

Screenshots that were released yesterday from ANOTHER shitty GBA hack. Coincidence? I think not! Sadly, these are the only maps in the hack that had actual changes to them rather than 7 tiles per map. And it STILL looks like shit, he did it all wrong.

Zelda was cool for having some sidescrolling parts in a topdown game. You're cool for successfully imitating that. Fuckwad's not cool for failing on contrast.
