"Hello, I'm your typical Pokecommunity hacking fan. I love hacks on Pokecommunity, however I won't even consider playing a Gold, Silver, or Crystal hack. Why? Because the graphics are terrible omg! I have more reasons, but I forgot. Anyways, since I cannot SUFFER to see the horrible graphic limitations in Gold anymore, I will rely on someone else to make a REMAKE for it and then label it as my favorite hack. Heck, I'll make a remake myself, that has to be the most ORIGINAL idea ever! It'll be the exact same game, except OMG GRAPHIX even though they don't contribute anything to the actual heart of the game: The gameplay. Pokemon Shiny Gold is my favorite hack because I wont be seeing the TERRIBLE 8 bit graphics that the gameboy can only hold. Even though that was the limitations back then, it's still terrible I don't know what the hell they were thinking. I wish these games were NEVER made, even though if that happened we woudln't have the advanced games that we use to fuck up with Elitemap.

I'm a fan of the hundreds of active hacks on Pokecommunity today, 95% don't follow Coolboyman's most important rule: Clear out the entire map before making your own. So most of the hacks I play are half assed hacks where the first town looks a LOT like Littleroot. However who cares? I'll take one of these hacks made in 30 minutes that have a grand total of seven tile changes in littleroot over the Color and metal Pokemon games that put years of hard work into them because I'm a bias dumbass.

Okay, time to post my hack. I'll post a bunch of empty promises and then later find out I can't do what I promised because I don't know how to use a Hex Editor, or change anything in the game without a program that somebody else made. This will result in cancellation of the hack, and then me starting up another one without learning from my mistakes."

That felt good.

So true, you forgot to mention when they do have a program....

"Halp, it wont work, it says I don't have RANDOM.dll, what do I do?"

Yeah, I can agree with you, even though I was a noob once, I was willing to learn, most of the people on that community just will not even try to learn.

Edit: So far in the thread on pokecommunity though, it all seems like they are saying they love your hack.

Most definately. The games themselves ARE fun. But the amount of n00bs has steered actual hackers could progress with them away.

Pokemon = kids. I mean, I also like the games from time to time, but I mostly only play Red/Blue or LG/FR. I can't deal with the constantly changing Pokemon. And yeah, when I was growing up, I had blue, and I mainly played that. I had gold, but I played blue more.

But yeah, Pokemon is mostly for little kids, even though older people can like them too. It's to be expected.

With little kids, what age-range do you mean?

I got the illusion that Pokémon was more suitable for young teenagers (9-15) than really small kids (5-8). I'm 21 myself and still play pokémon though, so it's nothing wrong with grownups playing the game.

Yes, I agree that there are way too many n00bs there, I just hate how they're all bitching and whining about Pokemon Battle Revolution, because it's such a tragedy that they used Pokemon from Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2... I keep telling them, 95% of the hacks there are pure crap in the graphics department... they still go "OMG NICE GRAPHICS!!!! (25 CHARACTER POST THING LOL!)."

I personally think that place isn't worth it in the most part, because even the most obvious of things are still questioned about there. I'm really wondering if Pokemon is "for kids" anymore, look how advanced the games are getting and how complicated... so many hidden values to make your head fall off.

I cry when they start REALLY hacking Diamond and Pearl there...

Oh and original graphics means sharing the same tile set...

So, I know of 2 hacks that are worth anything there... Koolboyman's, and Jeremy's (Despite what you might think of him, he isn't gay.)

There's nothing wrong with the Pokemon games. The stereotype has become that it's for kids due to the TV show being kiddish. But the games are really solid RPG/Adventure games. And the stuff like EV training are things that strategic minds can take advantage of.

It may be a stereotype, but it's true. Kids mainly watch the show, kids mainly play the games.

And therefore those of us over age 10 that play it are looked down upon.

And the character models from Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2 is pretty good. Of course, that meant usually that the environment around the pokémons was usually simple made. :p

Wait, are there really people who think G/S/C had bad graphics? Really if you consider the technical limitations (remember they had to maintain compatibility with the original Game Boy) they were phenomenal overall.

And then you can compare with R/B/Y which does have rather crappy graphics, in overall.

Some Pokémons looks a little bit badly drawn.

They are great for their limitations, I myself remember being surprised at how good Silver's graphics were when I first bought it, when I was a little kid, but there are the people that hate everything that isn't on par with present day, I've met a few, and they annoy the hell out of me. I bet the same people complain about the graphics of Wii VC games, with a community as saturated with stupididty as the internet, I'd be surprised to not find someone who thought G/S/C's graphics were bad.
To Ailure: Yeah, some are, I guess, but these people really only care about the BPP, so they can say "Oooh, shiny!"

When I bought my first version (red) I was just amazed at pixels and pictures and thought that will be the best possible ever.
I saw Silvers graphics and was utterly shocked at its difference and awesomeness.

The first batch of Pokémon images was crap (Red/Green in Japan). The second batch was okay (Blue in Japan, RB(Y?) in US). The third batch was great for 2BPP gfx (GSC). The fourth was fairly good (RSE) but the fifth's the best I've seen so far (FRLG).

Sixth could've been better if the sexual dimorphism had more differences.

Yellow had all-new pokemon graphics. As for the second batch, a good chunk of those were far worse than the original japanese-only batch. Just look at Koffing, Mewtwo or Blastoise.

Shiny Gold looks good so far, but it needs a day/night cycle, even a crappy one, he shoulda based it on emerald at least because that has all the default panels, although he probably didn't want to recreate Kanto...

sigh, it just ain't gold without espeon and umbreon....
