Suggestion 1: Will there be Move Editing in this thing?
Suggestion 2: What about different entrance styles? (Example would be Pokémon Yellow's Pikachu)

Might be possible, to forbid Pokéballs completely and replace the Pokémon graphics with human graphics. Then "Move Tutors" would be "Weapon Shops" and different classes of units could get different weapons...see where I'm getting at?
Editable moves and enterances can make it look like a differently-styled turn-based game.

Move editing = big yes. If it's data, you'll probably be able to edit it. Move animations are another thing but you can always edit the C code.

You haven't played Pokémon Yellow, have you? The Pikachu you get on it just walks in instead of coming out of a Pokéball. That's an alternate entrance there.

It's not necessary, but it's optional.

Along with the moves theme, adding new moves should be completely straightforward, correct?

Secondly, there shouldn't be a hard limit to pokemon evolutions per pokemon like in RSE, right? So if someone was really really bored they could actually give Eevee 17 evolutions to each type?

Thirdly - New traits? Easy or no?

Pikachu following the player around does not make me think of the word "entrance".

Adding moves is fairly straightforward, as would be finding a move with a similar animation and copypaste/tweak that code to fit.

Evolutions are limited by design:typedef struct anEvoSet

You'll want to edit that 5. I might be nice and change it to a #define like it should be. Alternatively, hook into the evolution code and handle Eevee seperately.

Traits: no effect yet, but they are shown in the status screen. Traits are personal value mod 25, increasing this would break compatibility. That's why DP importing is a one-way process.

So, what exactly does that mean? To be compatible I can't add more potential traits to an individual pokemon or I can't add new trait effects and replace them on a pokemon easily?

Eg, Clefairy having Cute Charm -> Cute Charm/Magic Guard or Rhydon from Lightning Rod/Rock Head -> Lightning Rod/Solid Rock

or something like that?

Two things..

1. Are double battles in 4th or 3rd gen style? I.E. Order of actions.
2. Can the map editor generate empty maps based on blocks on a world map image?

Good question. I believe the 3rd and 4th gen games handle what happens when only 1 Pokemon on a team is knocked out mid-turn in double battles differently.

IIRC... In 3rd gen games, your opponent would immediately have to switch in a replacement and the replacement would be attacked if you'd targeted that side with both of yours.

While 4th gen games, your attack gets moved to the other target, and the replacement doesn't switch in until between turns.

Edit: I know for certain the latter is how Pokemon Battle Revolution is. I'm not sure about Diamond/Pearl though.

Diamond and Pearl have the switch-at-end-of-turn thing, yes.

I'm pretty sure you're right about the 3rd gen stuff, too.

EDIT: In D/P, they also swap in following Sandstorm/Hail/(other weather, not that it affects anything)/Leech Seed/Future Sight (I think).

I'm going with 3rd gen style myself, considering this is the GBA, and leave some pointers on what to change for 4th gen style if you -really- want it.

By the way, I recently implemented smooth music transitions (fade out old, start new) and fanfares (fade out, play on second engine, wait to finish and fade back in). It really makes map transitions sound better.
