I'm trying to create a boss level for Morton Koopa Jr. But when I put the boss sprite in, and I set the level settings to Horizontal Boss Level, it plays the Bowser battle music and shows a bunch of glitched Morton graphics. And then it freezes. Does anybody know what's wrong?

The boss sprites are not able to be used in the normal level because their fight sequences are hard-coded. Ever wonder why you can't edit their levels? It's because of this fact that you can't. Morton, Iggy, Ludwig, Larry and Roy also all use Mode 7 for stretching and shrinking them when you stomp them and, don't quote me this, I believe that the Mode 7 uses a lot of memory. My suggestion is to not try and create a custom boss fight with them. If you really want one though, I think you'd have better luck making a custom sprite.


EDIT: Wait I think I don't know what I'm saying. I think you meant something different...

There are three different "Horizontal Boss Level".
Morton requires level mode 09.

Ok, thanks. I didn't notice that there were 3 different modes like that. But what exactly is the difference between them?
