Well, I got some old computers recently. Three old incomplete machines, with varying levels of operation, one complete and fully functional 386 clocked at 16 MHz (or turbo'd to 40 mhz), and a Compaq LTE Lite laptop with a 486. Awesome new technology, right?
Anyways, I would like to know the pinout for the odd power connector. Google was able to at least provide the voltage and amperage, but it failed at the connector. And I'm not paying $50 for something that's worthless. If anyone knows, I'd like the help. If not, I'll just plug my solar panels into the battery slot. (12 volt solar panels, 12 volt battery, they'll both make it run.) ____________________ "I'm sick of it and I'm out. See you around." ~Cpu's last post here |

Solar panels? That is so awesome. It would be really cool if you could run the computer off of those, although I see how it would be inconvenient because you might not have access to sunlight everywhere you want to use the laptop.
Would you be using the machines for gaming? I love DOS-era games... |

Hey, the sun's out! I'd better go set up!
I play this game on my 386, but it would run much better on a 486. (Although the monochrome screen might cause some problems...) DOS games are awesome. I'd love to see more that will run on such rediculously outdated machines. ____________________ "I'm sick of it and I'm out. See you around." ~Cpu's last post here |

You should try ZZT, Jetpack, and Squarez
Those are three of my favourite old DOS games |

Posted by KernalI don't think that, like mine, he would actually want to use it as much as get it running and see how it is. ____________________ I dealt with it. |

Solar panels do not provide enough power when it's cloudy out.
Well, carrying three 5-foot-long and rather heavy solar panels through the garage wasn't really worth the trouble. But, I got distracted and found a multimeter in a box of old computer parts. After a few probes and some digging through boxes (and duct tape, of course) I hooked it up to a gigantic power brick that conveniently had screw terminals and even more conveniently was 12 volts, and now I have a working laptop. Well, maybe not "working" since the battery is charging from empty and Windows 95 is installing as I type this. (Why can't the cabinet files on the CD fit on floppy disks? Why can't my laptop have a CD drive?) Now all I need is the docking station and a network card and I'll be able to use it like Xkeeper uses his (albeit much slower). ____________________ "I'm sick of it and I'm out. Hey, now, even the Brick250 was 250 MHz and had 32M of RAM
(And ran 98) ____________________ I dealt with it. |

But, the Lappy 486 is slower, and has 8M of RAM
And runs 95! ____________________ "I'm sick of it and I'm out. See you around." ~Cpu's last post here |

But the compy 386, lappy 486, MIDI machine, almost-server, and at least four other (newer) computers that I have all work. Broken doesn't count. ____________________ "I'm sick of it and I'm out. See you around." ~Cpu's last post here |

Well mine still ran, it just didn't want to boot certain games properly for some reason, and I had no idea how to use it. |
