Do you regularly see or use products from companies that nobody ever talks about?

My laptop is made by some company called "MPC". The only place I ever see MPC computers is at my university, where almost all of them are MPC. Even on huge lists of computer company names, MPC is absent. I'm starting to wonder if they only operate in a limited geographical area.

I also see weird brands now that I do grocery shopping at Aldi. Stuff like Bonanza potato chips and Millville cereal. But hey, it's cheap and just as good as the big brands. My high school used to use "Acclaim" brand Kleenex...err...facial tissue, which always reminded me of Acmlm's.

Acclaim brand tissue? O_o

Surely unrelated to the gaming company, heh.

Well, some computer brands are very local.

Like the network computer brand my laptop is. Unfortunately the company that made them got bankrupt so it's pretty much... impossible to get service for them now. At least mine hadn't broke yet. :/

Given that they rock so hard at succeeding in video games, I don't doubt that they have moved into tissues.

The analogous situation was Tiger Telematics. They rocked at carpet making so clearly they became a video game company.

They did. Someone (Activision's former CEO Howard Marks) bought the name and is now using it to market MMORPGs.

There's also a car called the Acclaim, my mom used to own one back in the 90s. Ah, I will never forget that crappy Chrysler Acclaim :/

That's weird how there is a car, a video game company, and a brand of tissue named Acclaim

Interestingly enough...
I was typing in the url for a rom site, and my finger slipped and hit enter with "http://www.ed" in my url bar.

Here is what I got

Not too bad, actually.

<!--stupid center and width hack-->
Some of the businesses I hear of with work I'd never heard of before working in Government. I don't think I can give you names though.

There are lots of computer businesses around here with small niche markets though.

I also like the data cable company called MIMP around here. MIMP of course meaning Money In My Pocket.

I was expecting something about the Unix editor "ed", myself, or maybe the personal site of someone named Ed.

Has anyone actually heard of IntelliMouse? I mean, I'm certain LOTS of people use IntelliMouse mice, but I don't think a lot of people actually know what it is.

IC Power

I see power.

I actually did today, in the form of lightning.

I've heard of an IntelliMouse driver, I think in the context of DOS gaming or some such way back in the day.

I have a friend with a Daytron TV--really old, cheap South Korean shit. Tons of no-names and wacky names out there.

I used to have a Litton microwave--from about 1990. Yeah, I'm a dinosaur If I'm hacking SMW I'd be one in some way

My oldest computer (still works, but never use it anymore ) is a 1993 DataByte Systems with a Shamrock monitor--AFAIK both companies are now dead. And I have a DSL modem made by ZyXEL--never heard of that one till now. I GoogledIt (tm) and I guess it's more popular than I thought. Well?

And speaking of batteries: when I was about 10 I won this mini-desk clock at a video arcade and it came with "Volvoies" brand batteries. Never seen 'em since.
