That's never really happened to me because I generally don't come here with a specific thread in mind. I almost always just browse around, so there's really nothing to get sidetracked from because I didn't have a goal in the first place.

Yeah, but sometimes you find one thread that seems interesting, then you think the next one is too, or you want to find the original thread of the second part thread you just read, and you get lost, forget which board your in,

I'm luck to be breaking 100 right now. I mean, I usually never post either

I, on the other hand, am able to keep up with a pretty high number. At least, for this version.

I rejoice in the lack of idiots that used to roam everywhere.

My problem goes more like this: I visit the board, view a few threads, click on reply, and never actually finish my reply. I come back to the tab of my unfinished reply, no longer feel like saying what I was going to say, and close it.

I've done that before, but only about once or twice. But sometimes, I also type a complete reply, then think: "What does this have to do at all with the thread?" and then close the tab

I frequently find myself deep in the bowels of Wikipedia, endlessly following link after link after link, long after I've forgotten what I was looking for in the first place. I can't be the only one who's done this...

For some reason, I've gone from "Nothing is worth replying too, I'll just be attacked by people going 'HOORJ'" to "Perhaps if I reply to EVERYTHING I'll find something interesting."

Odd.

Again, something I do. I'll read one article, opening any links I find interesting and putting the, in new tabs, opening after I read the article and doing the same thing, sometimes going in loops. One time I got from suicide to quantum physics

I've had no interest in posting for the past week, I'm not sure why. I've checked the board occasionally but just haven't felt like posting...

And I get sidetracked on the Internet constantly, especially on Wikipedia. I'll go in Wikipedia because I want to know the zip code of East Frimpleton, Nebraska, and then six hours later I find myself on the article "The History of Toothpaste" and realize I have no time to do my homework.

So, I come on to look for the thread on Kirby's Adventure.

A half-hour ago.

I've been chatting up and posting and screwing around for the past half-hour and then I close the board. Only then to I remember what I came here for in the first place.

So, how often does this happen to you where you get sidetracked and forget what you came here (or any other website, really) for? Am I the only one?

I do both of these all the time. Sometimes simultaneously.

I also used to do that all the time with Everything2. Back when I had dialup and could only surf for a few hours at a time without getting yelled at by my parents, I would sometimes start on either Everything2 or Wikipedia, with the intention of checking something else as well, but I'd end up using all my time on those sites and not be able to do the something else.

I've done the old "want to reply, get sidetracked and not bother to reply" deal many, MANY times.

Either I don't want to write a long post at that time, someone else already said what I was going to say or the thread was meh to begin with.

Mine is that I type out what I want and then I go back and constantly mash the 'Edit' button. I don't really care to hit the Preview button...that's why they should make an option of 'auto-Preview' in posts so I wouldn't be dumb about my posts.

Make that five of us Wikipedia is the cocaine of the internet. No joke. All you have to do is put 30 links in one stupid article and you'll have eaten up 2 hours of your life learning random crap. Suicide to quantum physics? Nah, make that getting from "kawaii" to people born in the 1000s BC before I realized just how long it's been since I visited my public library

End of ramble...I've been known to go maybe 2-3 days without posting, then make 4 posts within 2 hours. I'm not a steady customer, at least not till I get more work done on my SMW hack.

I do the same thing. I'm the world's worst typer, and I'm always thinking of alterations or revisions to my post immediately after I enter it. The scary thing is that I'm starting to make errors with its vs. it's, their vs. there vs. they're, and so on, which I never used to make. Maybe I see the mistakes so much that their there they're starting to rub off on me?
