I don't use many of the hotkeys, I just mouse it too. Speed doesn't matter that much if you're just filling up a production queue.

Haven't played it in YEARS. I'd probably get creamed if I went multiplayer, though. Didn't Civilization III have an online mode (or expansion)? Picked up the whole thing a while back and have yet to install.

I haven't played Age of Empires II in a while, I've been playing Civilization III and RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 a lot recently...

Although, I do really well at AoE2, and I'm thinking about playing it tonight

Ah, Civ 3. The game my dad has been completely addicted to since we bought it on the first day of release. I play that sometimes, I generally like the slower pace of that as compared to the AOE-type games.

So, I built this Scenario, just to see how well the computer players play with each other at max difficulty, and I must say, it's been quite... entertaining.

Scenario setting is this:

Player 1 (that's you) occupy the bottom right half of the map. This player gets an unfair advantage because the purpose is not to actually conquer, but to observe. If played long enough, the player may wish to go ahead and conquer the last surviving computer player, but this is not necessary.

Players 2-4 (that's them) are on separate, locked teams in the top left half. Each area is separated by trees. They each have an equal amount of everything, and should be able to work themselves out quite well. Because they are on separate locked teams, they WILL attack each other. A large buffer of trees separates these three players from Player 1, so that they may fight for as long as possible before attacking Player 1.

I played through the scenario once, not as a test, but as an actual game. I set the difficulty to Hardest, and played with a visible map (rather than unexplored). I set all of the races to Random, so that it would be a more enjoyable experience. I also recorded the game using the game's in-program recorder. I played through to a certain point and saved it, then quit, so the save game and the recording nearly line up perfectly. I am going to provide all three files so that you can see how it works, and also experiment with it a little if you want.

Note that this is not an example of good scenario making. Please do not try and copy my style... Also, the playing style of the recording is also definitely NOT the best way to play. I took my time, and sometimes appear to not be doing anything at all. Since I was in no imminent danger, I set up several lines (heh) of defenses just for the heck of it. I mostly just tried to have fun with it.

Here's the Recording. You load it up like any saved game. Just a warning, though, the download is 11MB and watching it may take in excess of three hours. I highly suggest you watch it in Fast Forward, as then it might not take so long...

Here's the Save Game. I highly suggest watching the recording before loading this up, unless you want to just stare with your jaw agape as you witness the horrid designs I conjured up in making the recording.

Here's the Scenario. You can load it into the map editor to take a look, or just boot it up to have fun playing.
