Just snagged a couple of SNES games from a thrift store. But I guess the previous owners weren't big on gray, so they painted them white. Idiotas. Is paint thinner going to destroy the carts or the labels?
Also, does Nintendo sell replacement battery covers for, say, Game Boys (of the Pocket and Color persuasions)? I'd ask them, but it's kind of 10PM on a Friday. |

They may have done so because the plastic the SNES carts use (and the SNES itself uses) tends to turn an ugly yellow-brown shade after a certain number of years pass.. Nintendo eventually corrected this issue in later batches of the plastic production, but pretty much all of the early shell casings for the SNES and its games have turned to to an ugly yellow by now.
At least, that's the only sensible reason I can see for them painting something like that.. |

Posted by TanksPosted by drjayphd Good luck... just about every Game Boy I've found in thrift stores is missing the battery door. |

I should have realized that, actually, since I recall now that my old GB turned too.. |

Lots of plastics have that problem, actually...
My C128 is a little strange... the keyboard part has yellowed, but the back part hasn't. I also have a power strip that's yellowed, but it's right next to a sunny window. ____________________ |

The half yellow issue is usually due to two different batches of plastic being used on the object in question. Some SNES' had the same thing, where an old batch was used for one side, and a newer batch for the other, leaving only half the console yellow. |
