The 30th anniversary of the release date of the movie that changed the world was today. Just thought it was worth a mention.

So, which movie's your favorite? Me, I'm a sucker for the original, episode IV, A New Hope. Though I love them all, old and new trilogy.

If you get the chance check out Star Wars: Revelations. It is delightfully indie.

I saw Revelations around the time I was waiting for Revenge of the Sith (I think it was because of a link from Acmlm's, actually). It was good, though some of the acting was slightly stale.

Anyone forget about Ewok Adventures?

That was a strangely odd movie I watched as a kid.

My list goes:
  1. Empire
  2. RotJ
  3. ANH
  4. RotS
  5. AotC
  6. TPM

Yes, I have VI above IV, But just barely. Also, the Clone Wars series was pretty cool, especially the second season.

Mine goes:

1. Empire
2. ANH/RotJ
3. RotS
4. TPM
5. AotC

I basically see Empire as the perfect space opera, whereas ANH/RotJ are both really, really good, but have some major flaws that detract. Empire? Fucking art.

RotS, due to a few bad scenes comes far behind the ANH/RotJ combo, but it was still good overall.

TPM, ignoring Jar-Jar, was an okay standalone movie that had really cool style.

AotC was just weak except for a few scenes.

And yes, Clone Wars was spectacular.

I would put I above II, except I fucking hate the kid who plays Anakin. Worst casting decision ever.

I do not think that the issue was casting, it was the fact that they are focusing on a child. He should have been a secondary character, not a messianic wunderkind. Show how fucked up his life got, show how his presence perturbed Jedi, show how he started training as a Jedi - don't show him being a decorated war hero before his first pubic hair comes in.

Then again, I hold true to the tradition that George Lucas needs to be kept away from Star Wars as much as legally possible. He originally wanted David Lynch to direct RotJ.

I basically see Empire as the perfect space opera...

Wow, I've never seen it put that way ... but that's freaking perfect. The absolute truth. The music throughout that entire movie is like a non-stop rollar coaster, and well the whole movie is just insane.

Though, I still think IV has the best music and themes. Just a lot of the classic stuff (like at the end when they're getting rewards).

And well I still have a soft spot for VI as well. Though I've never cared for the whole Jabba opening, and the Ewoks just seem drastically weak when your\ really think about it (childish) ... the last 30 minutes of the movie is godly epic. To this day, when I watch the final duel, see Darth Vader throw the Emperor to his doom and so on I get the craziest chills. The whole-ending is absolutely flawless.

I really don't know if I can decide. I'd probably place any of the OT above any other movie I've ever seen, but I've always been a diehard fan since I was about 5 or so. Can't beat nostalgia.

Episode III is probably my favorite from the NT. Though there's still a lot about it that I don't like or would have liked to have been different, it was basically my childhood dream come true. When I was young but old enough to understand the conflict between Obi-Wan and Anakin/Darth Vader, I just knew their fight was intense and mindblowing. 15 some years later, I'd say it delivered with that aspect. Also call me the ultra nerd but when they were executing the plan in killing all of the Jedi I think I teared a bit.

Episode II was okay but the acting was just terrible. I hate Douku, and I still can't stand the Yoda fight scene.

Episode I was okay but the podracing was way too long, young Anakin was annoying as heck, and Jar Jar Binks. But hey, it had Qui-Gon.

Totally! He was like 4 Jar-Jars in the movies.

A New Hope definitely. It's the only one that's is it's own stand alone story. With any of the other Star Wars movies, you have to watch more than one movie for the complete story. With A New Hope there's an actual beginning and end to it.

Return of the Jedi FTW.

Ewoks rule. They're like little teddy bears and they worship C3PO. Could it get any better?

You could have a harem of Twi'lek women.

Wait that reminds me! I change my answer. I'm going with RotJ because if you pause it at the right time, you can see boobies.

<!--stupid center and width hack-->
Every thread I've read on this forum today has degenerated into the perverted musings of young boys. I was hoping a thread on Star Wars might be different.. but no.
