Just wanted to let everyone know that Megaman Ultra 2 is still a WIP. It's my 2nd installment of my "Ultra" series. Megaman Ultra 2, is a rom hack based off the Megaman 4 rom. I began work on this project back in May 05.




sorry for the lack of screenshots, there's tons of suprises, and I dont want to spoil anything.

I do like that boss select screen, though I wonder where you'll find the pattern table space to put in boss portraits. Got enough space?

Additionally, is this hack going to be like Mega Man Ultra, gameplay-wise? I definitely appreciate the work put into the hack, but I am not much of a fan of some of the level designs and sprite modification choices. I am hoping that your abilities in level design have matured with the rest of your hacking talent, as often happens with hackers. Hope to see more from you.

WOW! I'm so thrilled that Megaman Ultra still has replay value, more than a year after. It means so much to read that, and it makes all the work I'm doing now so worth while. A promise to everyone. You will not be disapointed with this one.

Looks good so far. I don't know why... but I'm starting to get the urge to do a MegaMan Redrawn hack... >.>

What do you plan on doing for the Robot Masters anyways? Thinking of programming some new ones? Good luck with whatever you plan to do, unless you just gotta redo all the mugshots because the background uses up all of them nearly.

I am working on a Megaman 4 hack too, working title called Megaman 4 DX. While mine is not going to have new graphics or sound, it will change the aspect of gameplay. The story is going to stay the same, but the gameplay is going to be slightly different. Kuja helped me as well.

Hey it's looking great so far. The only thing that bugs me, and it bugged me for your first MMU hack, do you want me to whip up a new ULTRA for the title screen? I can see what I can do using photoshop, and maybe make the perspective look a little cleaner, and then just dump that into YY-CHR.

My Original "ULTRA" Design

As you can tell, it's a bit off centered. I tried designing it 3 different ways to fit, but i wont stay centered. I also did a little modification to the "L" in YY-CHR. I felt it was way to close to the "U". So I pulled the "L" 1 step to the right.


Anyway, I like your design. Any other ideas?

Yeah I should probably write a photoshop to YY-CHR tutorial seeing how it's an easy thing to do, and it can really spruce up a title screen, or sometimes even a background.

Hmm... Excuse me for being picky, but... there are a few things that I find a bit problematic about the new ultra. If the bottom row of tiles has the appropriate colors, I'd suggest you thicken the bottom parts of the letters, the L looks a bit bad. Further, it's a drop shadow. The edges of the shadow should not be in line with the edges of the letters.

Otherwise, I like it. Fits the style pretty well. Better than I could do on my own, that's for sure.

Well I didn't really intend on the bottom being a drop shadow. I just wanted it to be darker, but if infidelity wants to screw with it he can.
