I was reminded, I have a large tendancy to call everything a "thing" at one point or another

You'd think I was the Doom engine.

Oh yeah, how could I forget. I work at Arby's and we have a guy that works in drive-thru that calls our popcorn chicken "chicken balls". That leads to a lot of fun. Like when we have to make a salad thats supposed to get either chicken fingers or popcorn chicken put in it, and if we don't have any back there we can say "I'm sorry, we don't have the balls to make that salad"

Then there was the first day he started calling them that. He called them chicken balls so much that day that when he was taking an order in drive-thru he screwed up and said, "Would you like some chicken ba- I mean popcorn chicken with your 5 for 5.95?" lol.

Reminds me of what my dad calls peas. (Don't ask.)

In my garage there are four bins of computer-ish junk, which contain two extremely ancient mice. I called one "ol' squeaky." I have no idea why.

I sometimes say "I'd've" like "I would have" but I never write it out. Doesn't look right on paper.

I do that stuff too sometimes. My favourite double contraction (as I refer to them) is "I'ven't" for "I have not".

I was verbally attacked for saying "pop" around my friends down in Texas, since they call it "soda" there. I think I started calling it "carbonated beverage" after that just to annoy them.

I prefer mostly proper names. I hate when people call a remote a "clicker" and a controller a "paddle".

Ugh.

There's something at a nearby bakery that I like and will buy every so often, but I have no idea what they're called. So I point to them and ask for "twelve of those thingies".

Im particularly fond of "thingamajig" and "whatchamacallit", but sometimes I use "thingamahooger"

One of my friends says "thingerwinger" actually... dont know where that came from.

As for actual specific objects... Computer is compy, remote is clicker, most forms of soda is "coke"

Im sure there's a lot more I have, but I've used them for so long that I cant remember what I changed

I'll see your "thingamahooger" and raise you "thingamabobbermazoo " I'm the only person I know who says that, and my mom says "what's- his/her-face" constantly. I've been known to say 'puter or "comp" for computer, and thanks to MythBusters I've picked up "bupkis".

I'm from California, so I speak pretty much general American Although we have our share of buzzwords and slang here. We put "the" before highway (we call 'em freeways) numbers, like "get on the 405". Anyone say "get on 405" instead, with no "the?"

There might have been other stuff too, you tend to make up more weird words when you're younger I'm not one for making up words but I tack on prefixes and suffixes a lot. I've had my "-inate" phase where I tacked "-inate" on just about anything, even in RL.

I refer to my laptop as "lappy" on occasion, as well as the tv remote as "clicker". Plenty of "whatserface/whatserass" as well, as well as thingy, whatchamacallit, etc. Also shorten celluar communication device to simply "cell" ;x

Oh, and we don't use "the" before highway numbers here. Just your usual "get on 290" sort of thing. We say "the" before turnpikes or other such things however (i.e. "get on the Mass. Turnpike" or "head off the Boston Post Road" )

Oh and for the majority of my childhood I refered to Toad from Mario as "Marvin the mushroom" o___O; I have...not even a slight idea why.

Interesting - no one I know ever uses "the" in front of road names. The only exception I guess would be highways like "the Eisenhower" or "the Dan Ryan."

typically, we don't, but in some cases I have definitely heard people use "the" before the specific locations I've mentioned. On a personal note, I never do, I find it to be odd ;x

"that thing"
"that fucking thing"
"whatever the fuck that one thing is"
"pop"
"fucking shit whats that called again"
"shit you know what I mean that one thing"

As you can see I'm not very creative. I only mentioned pop because apparently its a funny name? I never knew that; soda sounds fucking ridiculous to me.

I have a tendancy to say "you guys" when referring to large groups of people. Even groups of girls. It's just another way of saying "hey all of you".

Anyway, I have a tendancy of saying gizmo and widget. The "plug link" that you plug ethernet cords to, and it carries the signal through the electricity outlets in the house? I call that a gizmo, because I have no idea what those are actually called.

Widget just sounds cool, so I sometimes say widget when I'm referring to a somewhat small (usually mechanical) device. Kinda like widgets in programming terms (buttons, checkboxes, option buttons, textboxes, etc, all are called widgets in programming).

I don't usually have a tendancy of giving strange names to objects though. I tend to call many things "things", but I try to call it what it is.

I call carbonated beverages and high school and college carbonated beverages, secondary education and tertiary education, respectively. I don't think I've ever had to say "thing" though, since I'd rather use portmanteau in the odd case of a new object or idea.

I have this habit of saying 'to the 'object'-mobile!' whenever I intend to go somewhere. Eg, going home so I go to the bus stop: To the Bus Stop Mobile!

Yeah. ;

Unknown objects are usually referred to as 'thingy-majiggy'

Pizza rolls (Those bread rolls with ham, cheese etc. on top) are universally called 'Bacon Bread' by my family.

My default adjective for when I can't think of a more useful one is always 'delicious'.

Uh, that's all I can think of for now.

Well, a nickname I call my dog is "Rice Rocket" (it's small and white, save for when it gets dirty)

Carbonated beverages I call "pop" too. I don't have many other names, save for "Internet" for everything fom IRC to email to ______ around my parents.

Nothing else, though.
