Most of what they do besides hoyle card games is just AOL email over the oldnet.

Oh, here's a new one from today:

Grandma: Comes in room, clicks off rotary fan YOU DON'T NEED TWO OF THOSE RUNNING.
Xkeeper: Uh... why? Noting that it's still the hottest room in the house, anyway
Grandma: WE JUST GOT OUR POWER BILL AND IT WAS $280!!!
Xkeeper: ... Okay. And you leave the jumbotron on all the time, even when nobody's in it.
Grandma: THATS BECAUSE IT TAKES JUST AS MUCH POWER TO TURN IT OFF AND ON THAN TO JUST LEAVE IT ON!
Xkeeper: ... No. See, when it's off, it uses zero power... oh, fuck it, it's impossible to argue with you.

Wait.
Henderson, NV: Boring, 106°F (41.1°C) - Forecast: Clear; High: 107°F (41.7°C), Low: 81°F (27.2°C)

Xkeeper: Okay, if you're so uptight about the power bill...

Xkeeper: WHY ARE YOU RUNNING TWO FREEZERS, OUTDOORS, IN 106°F HEAT?!?!

Seriously, the logic in this place astounds me.

I hope I never get this old (and stupid).

This proves that common sense isn't common, and humanity deserves a swift kick in the ass.

My guess is that's no fun for them living with you, either.

I don't really get in the way much at all, I generally just sit on the bed doing nothing (since there's, you know, nothing to do. )

Bleh.

It's time to get out the pickaxe!

...Ya know, if one of the freezers could fit inside the other one, you could always put one inside the other to cut the bills. XD

I change the cards in FreeCell. I noticed him make an invalid move and go back to AOL/Hoyle Card Games.

I just wish he'd leave...

I need to be more subtle about it

Although thta'd probably be a good idea, considering they've got all kinds of fun shit on it like some sort of mailer...

Take a screenshot of the desktop, and set that as the wallpaper, and remove the hoyle shortcut.

Ctrl+Alt+Delete
Kill process EXPLORER.EXE
Oops, no more start menu.

Really, loosening some cables inside the computer could give better results.

Well, the thing is, the computer needs to remain usable enough so that they don't have to use xk's "lapper-puter-jiggy" for the internet.

I'm wondering why your grandfather needs the light on... perhaps if he had a desk lamp or something, he wouldn't need the entire light on. I can imagine they're getting old, so their eyesight might not be all that great.

He does have a desk lamp.

That's the thing.

He just constantly turns it on because YOU NEED SOME GODDAMN LIGHT IN HERE

I like it when they claim it'll ruin my eyes. The irony being that it's much easier to look at a laptop screen in the dark, especially if I dim it.

From my current knowledge it only "ruins eyes" for those who are epileptic. For those who are on games and computers for like.... ever... (such as me) we gain a natural knack for preferring games in the dark as it keeps focus onto the screen and the screen only.

[edit] and as stated in the next post from Xkeeper "it removes glare too" [/edit]

Sorry I'm trying to lower my average post count per day.

*223342» @laptuna> (extremely itchy and annoying in general)
*223351» @laptuna> while I'm helping my grandpa with the clogged pipe in the storage room
*223352» @laptuna> ...
*223355» @laptuna> we're in the storage room anyway
*223358» @laptuna> side of the house
*223419» @laptuna> aparrently the dryer's running so it's getting really goddamn hot in there and I'm supposed ot be helping hold the flashlight for him so he can watch the draino go down a pipe
*223425» @laptuna> meanwhile my hair's going insane
*223440» @laptuna> so I just hand it to him and tell him I'll wait right outside (less than 3 feet away no less, just out an open door in fresh air)
*223445» @laptuna> FINE JUST GO INSIDE
*223502» @laptuna> "sorry, but I can't stand this heat, it makes my hair itch badly" OH JESUS CHRIST WHAT CAN YOU STAND

This after ruining my night by telling me we'd do this two hours ago, effectively making me wait two hours thinking he'll be doing it any minute and arhthghh
