My parents used to always come into the computer room, as it doubled as a generic storage room. It drove me nuts, especially if they asked what I was doing. Sheesh, can't you tell from what's on the screen? |

So yeah... what strikes me odd is that your granparents are in the room at 5 am... do they ever sleep? It seems that they don't understand that in order for you to not sleep during the day, you need sleep at night. Even worse is that your grandfather needs the light on for some reason. Maybe would a desk lamp help or something? I'd imagine it's next to impossible to reason with them about what time is 'computer time' and what time isn't. ____________________ |

One thing you can do is block some of the more commonly visited websites in the hosts file. If they ask, tell them they probably picked up a virus off some shady website. I used a similar trick at school: it was impossible to actually use the computers in one class (in which a lot of assignments involved researching things online), because people would spend all day on them pretending to work while really just using MSN. So I wrote a program that would automatically close any MSN window that opened and put it on one. Voila, there was always a computer free for those who actually needed it. |
