I do it on occasion, but not to where it becomes a practice. For example, whenever I'm playing one of my friends at school in Gunz with no non-friendlies, I tend to scold him on every third kill, since that's where something went wrong most of the time.
As for my cousin, well...he's pathetic, and I have to give him insults for how bad he plays, even if he is only 8, coming on 9. |

And he is bad. Do you know how far he is on Twilight Princess? Bah, not even past the sewers, even. Doesn't even check around. Ocarina of Time, no go on getting through the webbing. And no matter what he does on Brain Age, he always gets a score of 80... |

Sure, all the time, when I'm in the lead. Given that most of the people I play against do the same when they're in the lead, and we're all usually around the same level (I still own everyone in Goldeneye, though, while I constantly end up getting crushed in Wiisports Bowling), it's pretty much expected behavior anyway. Makes the games more fun. |

ANY sort of game between friends requires trash talk.
Oddly enough however, when I am the most focused I tend to not talk at all. On the topic of Guitar Hero; I've five starred all but a few group 7 and 8 songs on expert. Still haven't beaten Jordan on expert, though. |

The day Hiryuu gets whipped in KI (and I mean whipped... as in two or three straight ass-kickings) is the day I lose faith in video games. 
Everyone has their games that they have an edge in. Hiryuu's going to whip me in KI but I might whip him in Bomberman, and then proceed to get whipped by someone else. It's like a strategy game.  |

I usually trash talk in games that I know I'm going to win. Mario Kart DS is a good example. Most of my friends don't know how to snake so that's where I start trash talking.  |

I'm with you, no matter the situation, the trash is being dished out to all people. I swear, my friends watch me play games just for the entertainment that comes out of my mouth, they've told me. It's gotten to the point where single player games bring out the talk. I'd get IMs from my friends asking me if I was playing Castlevania so they could come in and listen to me yell at the game. I try to hold back on some of the harsher trash talk with people I don't know because I've offended some people, though all my friends know I'm not being serious, no matter how bad it sounds. |

Posted by Young Guru Im in a similar boat. I curse at the single player portion of games all the time. I entertain all my younger cousins that way. I dont yell profanities, but I go out of my way to entertain my cousins. Its either they sit on the couch and listen to my comments, or go run wild in the house and break stuff. I will gladly play Halo2 on legendary and curse at the covenant, then have my 14 year old cousins get bored and start contemplating committing arson. In multiplayer, 99% of the time, Im winning or letting someone else win, so I never really talk trash..well maybe a little. |

*the group leaves* That happened to me and a few friends on Halo 3 a few days ago. Our team lost, and thus in the main matchmaking menu our team was placed on the bottom of the list of players, giving them some kind of apparent power. It was hilarious, because they sounded pretty serious. My friends and I ... "Yeah, we're back on XBL". With friends and stuff, well it still happens when we're competing. |

Posted by XkeeperYeah, I'm sorta the same. I like pointing out specific fuckups, such as "dude, you missed that extra life and died in the same jump" in Sonic 2, but general purpose trash talk is definitely not unheard of, no matter who my opponent or teammate. |

All the time, my friends mostlly do the trash talking, and it becomes relatively contageous usualy in a round of Smash Melee or two, or in Halo if someone brings their XBox (I don't own one ;x), quite the fun time. There used to be some trash talking during rounds of Mario Party but...its....Mario Party. |

Posted by Colin Oh, don't get me wrong. I -have- been beaten (and I'm -sure- I've told -you-, Colin) but it's a very rare occasion. As long as I don't frequent zbattle.net then I have a chance. Otherwise, well...it's 50/50 with the people on there. The people on there are GAME SUPREME and you will be eviscerated usually in any game...ANY game. |

So in a few days I head over to my bother-in-law's. He's a good player at guitar hero. So am I, well, at least I hope I am. So here comes my hubby, instigating that I'm going to beat him when we go up there. Now that he's trashed talk for me, I need to practice and I have about three days to do so. I have improved in GH, but not to the point where I can beat songs with 5 stars on hard. Most of them are 3 and I'm actually stuck on a few. Urg, I kinda wished that he didn't trash talk for me, but then again, I am beating his brother on my friend's leader board...and to trash talk a bit more, HEY NICK: looked at the boards recently? 
*ahem* So anyway, with a few days left and me still being modest, I need to practice hard, because the hell I'm gonna go down that easily.
