I am slightly confused as to what you mean, but if you mean to say that Starcraft is all about economy management and build order, and macromanagement over micromanagement, then you are wrong and are probably playing too many shitty $$$FASTEST BGH MONEY MAP EVER$$$ games.

I don't have this replay anymore, but I remember when slayers~boxer was facing impending doom at the hands of a battle cruiser fleet all stacked overtop each other (thus making them almost impossible to target), and he pulled victory from the jaws of defeat by miraculously lockdowning 9 or so of them in under a second. There's other examples (IE how to control your marines in a semicircle so they all fire at once, as opposed to having them march single file to their death) but I think that should be sufficient.

...I really don't see how you can make this claim either. I think economics (Ie when to expand, what to build in what amounts) does make up a large part of the game; a player who can use all his income will generally fare much better than a player who cannot properly spend the same income.

I'm curious as how you're going to try and defend this. Explain.

In the case of the nukes in Starcraft I'm going to have to take the nerd crown.

It was actually a storyline sort of deal. The nuclear weapons in the game are all tactical battlefield delpoyment nukes. Strategic nuclear weapons are not made. Read the back story, y'all!

Anyways, you have no idea how psyched I am for more information. Fuck the game, half people on this board may lose their virginity before it comes out...I'll be more than happy of 5 years of hell with a slow trickle of new info. It'll also give me time to rob banks all over some rich country to buy a computer good enough to play it.

Resource management will always be important to a degree. In any game with resources. A player in Starcraft with superb micromanagement skills will always be far more efficient than those with average micromanagement skills and good economic skills. Strong management of skills like Lockdown, Psionic Storm, etc. while manoeuvring troops, detectors, etc. tends to win the skirmishes and allow more economic harassment. A good micromanager inflicts untold damage in comparison to a poor one. Making up for economic disadvantages.

I think you're underestimating the importance of macro. I agree that if the only difference is a zealot or two then micro is more important, but that's assuming both players are about just as good at managing their economies as each other. There's a lot of questions - when to expand, how many unit makers to build, when to upgrade and what, what kinds of units to create - that fall under macro that are still important.

Not that I don't agree that good micro can turn the tide of the game... But say in a game where a good micro but bad macro player is pitted against a bad micro but good macro player; I don't think either of them has a clear advantage.

I usually get trounced soundly because my macro is somewhat poor. My micro isn't pro level or anything, but it's pretty good, and is clearly not my weak point.
Macro > Micro, in general. It doesn't matter if you can kill a zealot with two marines if the enemy has as many zealots as you have marines. It also doesn't matter if you can kill a zealot with two marines if the enemy decided to build dark templars.
