Starcraft has been out almost nine years without a sequel. This doesn't constitute relying on a lemming fanbase. It's not like a yearly megaman, or anything.

Nobody complains about rehashing chess again and again. That is because there is no reason to make any sort of sweeping change to the game; it is so close to perfectly balanced that it would be pointless.

Starcraft is the most balanced RTS of all time. Starcraft II looks like it might expand on the gameplay options while still maintaining said balance.

I've always been more of a C&C person as RTSes go, but I'll gladly give it a shot three years after it comes out - because it'll take that long for me to get a computer that can run it, I'd bet.

Except the word "blizzard" is quite similar to "quality" in my dictionary.

unlike other words like "sega" that keep rehashing games for a lemming fanbase, you can actually expect something worth playing.

Personally, I don't see the issue. "We've been playing this game for over nine thousand years!! Give us a sequel!!" "okay"

how does that make them the bad guy

I'll laugh if it sucks but the chance of that is far too slim for me to win that bet.

Truth be told, I don't play these type of games and I've -got- Starcraft with the Brood War expansion. Even people that don't generally play the series knows how good it is and probably just own it out of principle.

...wow.

I've played Starcraft a while ago and while I would never play online other than with friends I knew in real life, I enjoyed the game.

Now, Starcraft 2 will definitely be in my watchful eye. I've been waiting forever to see something like this happen, and now it is happening.

FUCK YEAH INDEED!!

Starcraft was THE game that pulled me away from my Nintendo 64 and kept me hooked. It introduced me to PC gaming, battle.net showed me the wonders of online play and I finally found out what exactly an RTS was.

I have not built myself a computer in over almost 6 years now. Starcraft 2 WILL be the reason to spend the big bucks on a new comp.
