Alright, the tournament has started! You'll need to go to http://championship.ratedo.com to see who you are matched up against. If you need to contact the person, please email me and let me know what nickname you are using.

The rules for this round are as follows:

"You will be playing Dr. Mario via netplay. You can use the emulator hosted on the Championship site if you need one. Also, you may use your own rom, but I'll provide on upon request. You will need to finish this match up sometime this weekend, the sooner the better. You will play on the 2 Player mode and may feel free to set the virus level and speed to whatever you would like, just as long as you both use the same settings.

Team A players will be player 1 and Team B players will be player 2. You'll need to be the first to clear 3 stages. On the final screen showing the stage clear, both player's screens, and the stage clear counter, you'll both need to take a screenshot. Send me the screenshots."

I dunno how to contact my opponent though.

Firstly, is anyone else here planning on participating the the Rated O Gaming Championship 2007? The prize might be the zelda 3 rom, that is if enough people want to play for it. Please let me know. You can view the details at http://championship.ratedo.com

The top three choices for the prize are NES Games/System, Cash, and obviously the zelda 3 proto rom.

You will pretty much play games against each other to see who's the best.

He mentioned this in the Zelda 3 proto thread. That's what you missed.

Ok, so a few days after I entered this tournament, Comcast left a note on our door, telling us they'll be working in our area for a few days, upgrading the system to fiber optic, and that we might experience a temporary loss of service, lasting up to a day.
And yeah, said outage happened (wednesday), and then it stormed. So then thursday, we lost service again (maybe they couldn't finish because of the storm), and it came back.

Ever since the initial outage, my connection has been really laggy and crappy. If my connection doesn't improve within the next few days, I might be forced to drop out of this tournament.

This is such bullshit, my connection was just fine a few days ago, and ever since the work started, everything's been laggy and shitty. And I had less than 24-hours notice of the maintenance.

My SNR (signal noise ratio) is fluctuating at times. It normally hangs around 32dB, but lately it's dropped to 27-29dB, fluctuating in that range, sometimes getting back up to 30dB.

Same here. It just died in the middle of my game with TheGreatGuy, which technically means I lose because I caused the disconnect.

He was killing me anyway though.

Well, here's the thing. Comcast scheduled a tech guy to come out and give us a new router / check our connection on Tuesday.

In the mean time, Tanks suggested that I just turn the router off for longer than just one minute, so I did for ten minutes, and so far, my SNR has stayed up. I mean, it's dipped a little bit at times, but I'm maintaining a connection at least, whereas before, my connection would drop after just 5 minutes.

Things might actually be looking up now.

Of course, this all might also be because it's starting to become night time. In my experience, all internet connections seem to get better at night.
