Besides MMC3 is a awesome mapper, programming-wise that is.

I honestly need to play around with it more.

What I find funny is that they used all that space for new graphics, yet forgot to make it use all 7 frames

Or maybe this thread is SPAM to promote another forum.

hahaha oh jesus christ did you just actually propose that

see it's shit like this that makes me feel like trolling every bit of the internet that exists

In regards to this proto, the only part that really appeals to me is the new underground music. Maybe I should see what I could do about porting it to the final game, or something.

iamstillhiro is just a moron, ignore him already.

And Tweaker, the starman music was changed (slightly) too, it has ... drums (or whatever they used the PCM channel for)

Whatever or not this rom was released in a less than ethical fashion is the subject for private conversations like others have siad. What I have seen here instead of people construcively talking about the stuff that is in this game, is a big flame war over the way it was released to the public.

Get over yourselves guys, there is a place for ego stroking and I don't think that this is the best place to going on about it!

Uh, yeah, we've been trying to get past that for the past few posts, in case you couldn't tell.

What's done is done. Any further posts about the ROM's origin will be trashed.

Shouldn't be too hard, assuming that music engine hadn't been "worked on". Some people have already messed with the music, I remember someone's hack with custom music and Acmlm even replaced the engine with his own.

I think I'm done with the subject to. I just thought it was good to give a little bit of an egging to the ROMS releaser on his home turf. But everything I had to say I'm pretty sure I said it now.

It's pretty easy, copy $8000-BFFF (sound code and data) and $1D800-1DBFF (PCM drums) from the prototype and you get the prototype's music in the final game

There seems to be a few minor changes to the music code as well, I'm guessing it's because the prototype allowed noise+PCM at once and the final game had a hardcoded noise/PCM switch (one byte telling which song used which) ...
