Anyone else watching it right now?

I find myself watching it in the first time for years, but mostly becuse that a group I like is representing Sweden.

The Ark with the song The Worrying Kind.

The Ark. Not my favorite genre. And I think I remember that singer crow like a freakin' opera singer in one of their songs.

I find these kind contests boring because the winner's song is played to death on the radio. So I´m not watching.

As I do every year, I'm wating it

The UK entry is PURE cheese, very DDR-esque (a bit like Mai-ia-hi).

Is it just me or was the Irish singer REALLLY out of tune

The UK entry just looks silly. I prefered the other one over the current.

Terry Wogan is the only thing that makes Eurovision watchable. His commentary style (basically, take the utter piss out of every single act) is hilarious. And he's usually drunk.

All hail the togmeister.

Yeah, the Irish one was... bit wierd. No song have impressed me so far, though there was one I thought I was decent... problem is that I forgot which country it was. xD

The Ark Playing right now anyway.

12 points from Denmark.

Although we usually get points from other Scandinavian countries so it wasn't much of a surprise.

Sanjaya - Talentless loon off American Idol

I love the Ukraine one, it's a novelty song.
Someone should do a stepfile of it

It'll be somewhere in the eastern bloc.

So we have nul points so far

EDIT : Serbia won, bloody politics

Ireland's entry was a fucking joke. How do a pack of boggers from the depths of Ireland's rural countryside playing tin whistles and fiddles think they'd actually do well against some of the epic songs from Eastern Europe?

And that's not even it! While almost every other country had beautiful girls to deliver the votes, our representatvie to deliver the votes was none other than that wrinkly old prune Linda Martin, one of Ireland's most annoying celebrities. And instead of congratulating them on a great show, she started talking about where she was, and even got the name of where she was wrong

And then, while Ireland were actually doing quite well, 5th last, she gave votes to the people behind us and put them ahead of us. I know this isn't her fault, but still, it makes me want to slap her wrinkly face with a rotten trout.

Oh ho, I can't wait to read the negative reviews in tomorrow's papers.

Jostein Pedersen, "the Norwegian Terry Wogan", did not do the commentary this year. He's become a cult hero among Norwegian Eurovision-fans, but has also been espeically hated by the Swedish media for talking down on their entries each and every year (I particularly enjoyed the year he called the Swedish act "as exciting as furniture from IKEA").

Anyway, this year, the commentary was done by Per Sundnes, and the man was an absolute travesty. He did pretty much everything wrong, talked when he should be quiet, and managed to mess up on a lot of Eurovision-trivia. The highlight of it all, though, was when Serbia was handing out their points, and the man remarks that he expects douze points to be given to Serbia. Any idiot knows you can't hand out points to your own country. The man ruined the entire experience. Sadly, as oposed to a football game with poor commentary, you can't turn the sound off Eurovision.

Anyway, I note that the United Kingdom still seems to be sour grapes over their nul points in 2003 (which was, as I've said before, because their song was a travesty, and not because of the Iraqi war). I mean, ever since 2003 they've sent horrible songs as what I can only assume is a form of infantile we-want-you-to-know-that-we-don't-care. The UK is the home of pop music, surely they should be able to dig up something that's kitsch, camp, trashy, yet still good.

People around here are generally upset with political voting in Eastern Europe keeping us out of the final. I think that is quite laughable, seeing as how we've been doing political voting in Scandinavia since the dawn of time.
