I have never actually had a cheesecake, the idea of cheese and cake in one entity made me cringe. After this thread though, I guess I might try it. Still, it seems it'd taste pretty weird, pastry + cheese =

It's not exactly pastry + cheese. All the cheesecakes I've had aren't pastry - the crust is usually some sort of crushed-up cookie type thing. The crusts we make at home are usually either Oreos or graham crackers crushed up with butter added to them. Then the filling is cream cheese, eggs, sugar, and other stuff depending on the flavor.

Try one.

A cheesecake is closer to a pie than a cake. It's a crumb crust with a sweet cream-cheese-based (often) filling.

It's... not cheese.

It's cream cheese, and it's even more subtle than literally eating cream cheese. You need to try it before you go on saying how gross it sounds.

No, no, he's got a point. It doesn't sound good at all.

This is why you ignore how something sounds and eat the damn thing! Cheesecake is one of the few sweet foods that I actually look forward to eating a lot of... and anyone in the house has to hide it from me or eat theirs before they tell me about it.

DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible if you eat something that makes you sick or even kills you because you took my advice too literally and ignored common sense.

Well lots of things sound gross to eat. I mean hell, people eat the ass of a pig and it's no problem.

Just try cheesecake.

Wait, there's more than one variant of cheesecake?
All the cakes I've eaten have had jello on top and tasted like... you know... uh... cheesecake. What are these other things like?

They're all still cheesecake-like, just added goodness. For example, the crust might be of chocolate cookie or something, rather than the typical crust. And rather than just being plain in terms of flavor, it may be coffee flavored or peanut butter cup flavored, but it is still cheesecake.

It's kind of hard to explain. It's like... When you make toast, you can put butter or peanut butter or jelly or jam... but it's still toast behind the added goodness.

Trelior was right!...

So, cheesecake huh? I really don't like it at all. There are much better cakes out there.

Cheesecake is a pie, and also happens to be better than almost any cake in existence.

Wait, it's a type of pie? ...Really?

Also, what about cupcakes? Is it better than those? (Probably.)

Some cupcakes are actually really fucking nice, but it's hard to get the recipe perfect each time. I had a friend who made like 20 cupcakes, each iced with a different picture and for a different friend, it was so nice.

Seeing as how thins happened in the thread here, I'm just gonna leave it open.

Cheesecake is yummy... but i don't like anything but chocolate or caramel on it. I don't like fruity pies or any other kind of topping on it. Nuts are fine, like pecans.

Cupcakes... I remember someone had made some cheesecake cupcakes before. they were so good. Just plain cheesecake stuff in cupcake form. Awesome idea.

Some people like cupcakes better. I for one care less for them.
Some people.... Some people like cupcakes exclusively while I myself, I say there is not, nor ought there be anything so exalted on the face of God's Great Earth than that Prince of Foods.

The Muffin.

As for cheesecakes, I made a lot of those myself back in the day. I might try again some day.

People I know have always called me weird, as I've never been a fan of cheesecake. I just don't like it much

Cupcakes and muffins, though, are amazing
