Generally, making it known to your parents friends and siblings (i.e., aunts and uncles) that you're a computer person is a good idea, since when they need help they come to you
Case in point, my mom's friend asked me to help her set up a few routers and modems, so I did some tweaking and got their computer in shape, then got their modem set up (and got it activated), then got the router all set up and configured... Then I went to her house and set up another router for her I was gone all of about four hours, most of which was spent doing nothing... All of that, and I get free lunch and $200 Not bad for all I did, plus she gets to return two PCMCIA cards she was sold she didn't need... Best of all, she's going to need more help soon with another computer that needs set up and cleaned, and an iPod. It's not that bad as she's not terribly computer literate (I help her with some things), but I'm also trying to teach her... heh. Oh well, not a bad day so far... here's hoping it can last until tomorrow ____________________ I dealt with it. |

You should apply for for an IT technician in a big company or something. I bet you'd get alot more than $200. ;o ____________________ I like gay porn. It's hot |

$200 plus free lunch for 4 hours of easy work != working for a big company.
Now all he needs to do is make sure this sort of thing happens more than every few months. If XKeeper could do this every day, he'd be livin' the high life! (plus, free food!) ____________________ My current complication: Girl's name who gets no more than 10 minutes of screen time in the actual game. |

Posted by MaxKnight No, it's not, but srsly, I bet there are people out there who have no idea how computers work. I think the summer is the ticket for xK. ____________________ I like gay porn. It's hot |

As long as you take the general knowledge level of your parents friends into consideration, you can generally get away with this without actually knowing much in the first place as well. I got 50$ for moving some documents between two computers with no floppy drives or CD burner. |

Posted by MaxKnightXkeeper ¬_¬ And besides, it wasn't even really 4 hours of work -- it was at most maybe 1:30, with 2:30 dedicated to picking my nose and farting on the internet (foti). Installation programs sure take a while ____________________ I dealt with it. |

*applauds*
Well, technically pocketing $80/day for just talking to people on the phone and typing stuff on a PC isn't a horrid way of making money either, but I approve of your solution. |

Getting paid of course. Heh.
I can't pay my parents though, considering I usually get away with them ordering books and not paying me. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

I got paid 40 bucks to install someone's printer drivers.
...and again a week later to show them how to use torrents. I tried to refuse it both times without much luck. I wouldn't make a good computer technician, it irks me to charge someone in the triple digits for minutes of work |
