I know, I've never used a Compaq that worked. They make eMachines look good. (of course, I get what I pay for, and this was the cheapest computer I found.) My first computer (not sharing with my parents') was a Compaq and there are still some at school, which I avoid. I will even wait to use one of the non-Compaq machines or come back later.

I use a Shitpaq, gtfo.
That explains everything...

Also, Dell laptops are only good for one thing. Namely, grenades!

You useless pieces of...

You really ought to take a look at some HP/Compaqs out on the market these days. If you were talking like it was '01, I'd agree.

All the Compaqs I mentioned were pre-HP. My dad has a post-merger HP laptop which works pretty well...

Like I said, their Compaq is actually rather recent, but that doesn't mean it sucks any less

The only good thing about Dell is they're finally starting to offer Linux machines...

The only thing I've really begun to hate about anything are some of the miniTowers that we sell at RS. Sure they have good specs and are at a -very- reasonable price for the tower, mouse and keyboard (250GB Hard, 1.0GB RAM, AMD 3600+) but they have no possible way of expansion unless they have SMAAAAAALL PCI slots. One Acer that retails for 500 dollars doesn't even -have- slots.

It sounds like the RS there is a lot more advanced than the ones here, which generally only stock equipment (cords, etc) or small-stuff like speakers/monitors, and rarely an actual PC tower.

Oh, you're about right. I've had to bitch and complain to get laptops, PC, hard drives and [gasp] sticks of -512MB- RAM in my store. We had gig strips at a time but those Kingstons are on recall due to shorting easily. It's really a matter of the associates there enquiring to get it from the stores or the Fort Worth office.

Guess how much bitching I usually do daily?

Mines an HP Laptop 2020. I won it in a contest last summer because I spent 10 hours a day filling out contest forms and shoving them into the contest box.

Wait...

2 GB DDR off a mobo that runs a 1GHz comp? What kind of PC-ratings are on those strips? Hell I can't even -find- PC-100 strips without having to put it on special order and even then they're pricey as hell and run way slower than today's strips.

My Athlon XP used PC2700. It's not *that* old. PC100, on the other hand, died with the Pentium IIs and K6-3s...

I gots an HP laptop. I drew it in MoonEdit once. It looks like a mess though.
I've also got a Dell desktop which is no longer in my room - it's the one with the dieing power supply.

Well i started making another computer.... I'm thinking about putting in

Asus Motherboard (already installed)

8GB of RAM

AMD Opteron (2.5 GHz) (already Installed)

120 GB (Western Digital)

CD/DVD Burner (Made by JustLink)

Windows XP Media Center Edition

Already installed:

- Microprocessor

- Motherboard

Might take me almost a month to finish it

P.S- I might put some neat decorations on it

If you have any other suggestions feel free to post them

Uhm...I've got a Pentium III 1.0GHz and it can go no higher than PC-100 on the mobo.

Seriously, PC-133 (which is really the only thing that would fit it) makes the thing Page Fault or Registry Error otherwise.
