I dunno, I just thought of this, maybe a feature where you can mark a thread "permanently" read, so that if someone posts in it, it won't mark it as new, and it won't say "new" for you when looking at the forum.

I don't know if it's in the realm of possibility, or if anyone else thinks it's a good idea, but just something I thought of.

this idea sounds pretty awesome to me, there are alot of times where I know whatever was said in a certain thread just won't interest me

I always just thought this was a waste of database space; isn't it just easier to ignore the thread?

the whole point of something being marked new is that its marked new on the main page; you see the forum has a new post, you check it out. oh its just that damn masturbation thread again, mark forum read, go read modern science and talk about how cool tux the penguin is.

and yes it very well may take up space in the database, but we don't go around telling old television sets that they're a waste of electricity now do we

well I don't anyways

It's just convience really...I mean, setz summed it up pretty good. I know I might not read thread X, but I see "new," and click on the forum just to find out it's that damn thread X.

How come old TV's are plugged in? Leave them on the sidewalk for all of time for somebody to pick up.

If you leave something outside that you don't want, someone WILL take it off of your hands. Even if it is an old 13" black and white TV. These rejects will grab anything for free.
