The story is:
A dimensional rift has appeared and the princess has been sucked in!, It's up to mario to go through various video game worlds to save her.

so far, I've got the star world's overworld done...
I'll post more screens as I get further into this hack...

I made that sun using only Tile Layer Pro....

I'll need to learn more to complete the whole overworld

Title suggestion:
Mario's Trans-Universal Adventure

...
So yeah.

Also, all you did was change the pallete(sp?) of the star world (and make the sun). You should change around the levels/level paths.

To learn more, go to the SMWiki. There you'll find some more-up-to-date tutorials. As for the look, I like what you've done with the template and the sun graphic, but that doesn't satisfy my tastes - try changing the overall look of StarWorld. You've got a new feel for the world, but it is practically the same "boring" original (almost). Unless you need the star shape, I'd change it around...

Not true, he also changed the shape at the bottom.

Also your sun reminds me of Defective By Design's logo.

I was trying to make a simpler version of the SMB3 Sun that attacks you... But I see how they're similar

I redid all of the path on the special world

Hey I like that Special world. I don't, however, like the sun much. It's okay, just make it look less square.

Whoa, your overworlds look deligtfully unrealistic as if from a vague dream of Mario Games.

Although the sun looks a bit deformed I actually think the deformation works. There's something aesthetically pleasing about these overworlds.

Now the special world I like . Although having the stars there is rather weird, since you have hills/etc too.

I think the special world works perfectly, it just looks awesome. The screwy palletes just enhance the world. Seriously, it looks like it's got some sort of "Twilight world" thing going on(Not talking about TP), and it just looks great. One complaint though, the SNES logo just looks completely out of place there now, it does not look like it belongs there, at all. And don't change the squarey, angry sun, it is greeaaat.

Oh yeah forgot to say logo = bad.
You might want to change the star world just a bit more.

I like the art style of your OW--Mario on acid, anyone? Kinda reminds me of Rosa Perplex from Chaos CompleXX--that was definitely a drug-induced creation.

The yellow, square island thing in the first screenie looks really out of place in a normal hack, but if that's the style you're going for, it's cool

Yoshi's Island looks pretty good overall, the perspective on the cliffs is a bit iffy near the middle. See how the grassy stuff sticks out but the cliffs seem to curve in below it? Looks nice to me up close, but some might not like the concave look of it. Oh, and you might want to move the castle back, away from the edge a bit. Great attention to detail overall.

It's cool to see more hacks with actual OBJECTS in the Special World that use the weird reverse-shadow purple palette (the preset Special World palette, mind you) without looking cheesy as hell.

Nice Star World--it looks, well, evil and surreal. I like those crisscrossing paths that seem to lead to nowhere.

Can't wait to see more!

The special world's special world passed palette switches the purple for green, and makes the sparkles red, so it keeps it's general look

and I can see what you mean for the castle, but if I didn't do that I wouldn't be able to fit the exit on screen, and if I made the island bigger, the water level there wouldn't make sense, but 'll try to work something out for it

and My star world I only used arrows for the paths because I didn't want to do the path event making too hard, or take too long, so it looks like they lead to nowhere, but they actually lead to the next star road (the arrow is the way Mario leaves the level on the overworld)

next I'm gonna try to make some levels and ExGfx for yoshi's island and get a demo out, then I'll work on Zebes

EDIT: I see where I messed up on the main part of yoshi's island, i forgot to fix that when i edited the base of the island
