I'm going to make an adapter for it. I would like some suggestions for what kind of microcontroller I should use. I would prefer cheap with a serial/USB connection for upgrades. I don't really care if I have to learn some obscure assembly language to be able to program it.
Information about the Nintendo 64/Gamecube controller data protocols would be appreciated too, since I would like to have rumble support. Any suggestions? ____________________ "I'm sick of it and I'm out. See you around." ~Cpu's last post here |

So you want to make N64 games work on a gamecube? ____________________ |

Posted by NightKev No Nightkev, what he wants to do is use a N64 controller on a gamecube. Much like there is NES > USB and SNES > USB. It should work in theory. I wish I could help more joe, however I have no idea where to look for those documents. The only advice I could give you, would be to look at some of the homebrew programmer websites. ____________________ |

Oh. Well, why? N64 controllers are crap. Unless you're doing this just to say you can do it, then go for it. ____________________ |

Nintendo 64 controllers are good for playing Nintendo 64 games. You can download Nintendo 64 games on the Wii. The Wii has gamecube controller ports. Why not have a Nintendo 64 controller for the Nintendo 64 games?
Well, if nobody has any information, I'll keep looking on Google. I wonder if a BASIC stamp can run fast enough... 1 microsecend accuracy? Yikes, what was Nintendo thinking? ____________________ "I'm sick of it and I'm out. See you around." ~Cpu's last post here |

Honestly I don't have any problems with them, but you have troubles getting used to other controllers after using one, and vice versa. A friend of mine uses an N64 -> USB thingy to play Super Smash Bros. online. Although, how exactly would you do this? The N64 controller has two less buttons than the GC one. What'll you do about X and Y?
EDIT: Ah, that makes sense, using the N64 controller for Wii VC games. I understand now. ____________________ There are things I want to put here. Like a cool picture, my 8-bit theatre character test result, my MS and RO characters... But it's 12 AM, and I'm sleepy. |

It is possible.... but the games are programmed to react to a Gamecube controller..... so if you use a N64 controller....button A will probably register as the button B. Catch my drift? |

Posted by AT_460 Remapping buttons in the controller is possible. Especially if you're attempting a project like this, it shouldn't be that bad. |
