Did that title get your attention? Good.

Now here's albums that you must listen to. The best albums to listen to before..uhh...tomorrow?

Be reminded that these are all 10.0 albums, and your life will not be complete until you listen to each and every one (Radiohead and Elliott Smith are most reccomended).

Radiohead - Kid A

Alternative electronic rock.

Elliott Smith - XO

Mellow Acoustic Rock by one of the greatest (deceased) songwriters of the last 20 years. Widely regarded as one of his best albums, this record includes songs such as 'Waltz #2', which is a classic.

Massive Attack - Mezzanine

Trip hop mixed with metal and reggae. Awesome.

Isis - Panopticon

Amazing post rock album. Heavy in parts, mellow and emotional in others. Largely instrumental.

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol 2

A selection of ambient tunes, similar to those by Eno in the past.

Boards of Canada - Music has the Right to Children

Amazing electronica. Hard to categorize in any way.

Mr Bungle - Disco Volante

Probably the weirdest and most insane album I have ever heard, by Mike Patton and the guys. A mix of free jazz, metal, electronica, arabian music, circus music, punk and italian opera.

Tom Waits - Rain Dogs

Probably the weirdest Waits album I own, but definately my favourite.

The Mars Volta - Deloused in the Comatorium

Hard to describe. Progressive rock of the Pink Floyd/Led Zeppelin type, mixed with salsa, mixed with ambience, mixed with experimental sounds, mixed with punk.

Jamiroquai - Travelling without Moving

funky funk funk funk. its virtual insanity

The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin

Brilliant psychedelic rock. Seemingly happy songs, with sinister undertones. (i will also add, that the flaming lips was the best gig I've ever been to in my life - and I've seen a lot of bands)

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral

Hard to listen to, disturbing, heavy and a whole lot of distortion. An album that tells a story of murder, rape and suicide, written and performed solely by Trent Reznor in 1993. Includes his song 'Hurt', which was later covered by Johnny Cash.

Kayo Dot - Choirs of the Eye

A weird, but amazing mix of Classical music and progressive Metal.

Faith No More - Angel Dust

The second album by Mike Patton's breakthrough band. Whereas the first album introduced the first mix between Rap and Metal in modern music (about 20 years before bands like Linkin Park etc), this album seems to be the point where Patton develops his distinctive style. His incredible vocal capabilities are showcased here to their full potential in every single song, most of them being incredibly weird.

Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden, I Miss Everyone

Instrumental post rock. Beautiful melodies. Similar in sound to Isis, but without the heavy parts.

Brian Eno - Another Green World

Eno's best album, IMO.

Botch - American Nervoso

In my opinion, the best album by hardcore band Botch. Very heavy, simple melodies are put together with such force and power that the album is impossible to stop listening to.

Squarepusher - Ultravisitor

Sounds like a live album, but is actually a studio based work. This album by Tom Jenkinson showcases his unique mix of styles including Jazz and electronica/IDM as well as his bass-playing abilities. Flea, of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has on numerous occasions named Jenkinson as the greatest bass player in the world. Listen to 'Tetra-Sync' on this album to see why.

Radiohead - Hail to the Thief

Hugely underrated album. Released a few years ago, this mixes the classic rock sound of OK Computer with the more experimental electronica of Kid A and Amnesiac, creating a pretty much perfect balance between the two. The album includes some of Radiohead's best songs including 'There There', 'Sail to the Moon' and 'Where I end and You Begin'. Listen to it.

Pelican - Last Day of Winter

Instrumental Post-Metal. Listen to this if you want the same type of beautiful progressive melodies that Explosions in the Sky offer, but heavier.

Anyway. What do you all think of my musical taste?

Yep, I'm from the UK.

But I havent listened to much of either of those. I usually stick to the more obscure/alternative stuff.

Shitty. Fergie, I mean. The other music in this thread is quite good. Fergie is a steaming pile of awful music.

John Prine is suggestable. Particularly everything he has ever done.

The lack of Neil Young dissapoints me, as does the lack of suggesting Dinosaur Jr. Their new album "The Beyond" is fucking awesome and should be manditory listening for non-terrorists.

Much or none?

Not to be rude but what you posted isn't too obscure.

Show me some unusual stuff!

Haha, yeah. Radiohead and Elliott Smith are as far from obscure as you can get.

But here we go:

Shugo Tokumaru - Night Piece

Autechre - Confield

Fucked up electronica.

DeFacto - Megaton Shotblast!

Experimental Dub Reggae by the Mars Volta guys.

Avro Part - Tabula Rasa

Mostly choral works by a masterful composer. Eerie melodies.

Blue States - Nothing Changes Under the Sun

A vast mix of styles, by the electronica/dreampop band from sussex. Pretty mellow and chilled out.

Maudlin of the Well - Leaving Your Body Map

Part of a double album by the band that turned into Kayo Dot. Dark progressive doom metal, mixed with beautiful melodies and some slightly orchestral parts before delving into utter insanity.

Genius/GZA - Liquid Swords

Pretty much the best hiphop album I have ever heard (and like most genres, I've got a huge collection of them). The production by RZA is flawless.

Anyone heard any of these? They're pretty amazing albums, each one of them.

I know Avro Part! I lived with an Irish dude for a while that totally dug them.

Also, where is the Frank Zappa?

My suggestion for an awesome album that you'll never find outside Canada is Mr. Plow "It's Plow or Never"
