Music, Graphics, Web Development, system stability, an extremely well thought out user interface that doesn't get in the way of you doing work...

I have all of that plus craploads of games. Of course I do tweak the hell out of my systems to get stability. But that's just me. I like tweaking things to full power.

How much control do you have over the system in OSX? Is there a lot of DRM, restrictions that can't be bypassed (e.g. Windows' "cannot delete this file because some dumb program forgot to close it" errors), etc?

It's a UNIX. Well, I'll be more specific: Mac OS X is based on the Mach kernel and is derived from the BSD implementation of Unix in NEXTSTEP.

You have lots of control over the system. Lots. If you know a bit of Unix stuff you can do many many things.

I don't have any problems with DRM (I've not purchased any protected iTunes media and everything else I have works fine) and I've not encountered a restriction that cannot be bypassed -- only some that require an Administrator password (think a bit like a "sudo") to actually complete.

Some things are a bit irritating sure (the general use of the Finder comes to mind) but some things are irritating about Windows and Linux too.

I really, really dislike OSX's interface, from what I used back in the day and even trying it out in various stores.

For one, not having a menu.

Each to their own I suppose. I very much like OS X, and I don't miss the "Start Menu" at all, or think it is necessary to a user interface.

Mac OS X is ver fast on this mac too, wheeeeeeeee!

While I do "like" Mac OS in general it's annoying to go between PCs and Mac OS frequently. One reason: most commands on windows have Ctrl + Key shortcuts whereas Macs have Apple (command) + Key shortcuts. The problem? Control and Command are in slightly different places. Can you set it on Mac OS so that the corner key is the command key?

What do you people use these Macintosh's for anyways?

I've never used one so that's why I'm asking. You can't play games on them so what are they good for?

My Macs run Windows and Linux, so I can have everything! (Mwahahahaha!)

When my iMac broke, I extracted the HD from it and put it in a case, so I could get all the stuff out of it and into something that works. It wasn't a laptop, so I'm not sure if it would work on your computer, though.

I love Mac OS X, if just because it doesn't make me feel like I am using an OS designed for someone with ADD. That and it's still fast on the 7 year old iMac that's sitting in the loungeroom...nothing compared to my shiny new iMac, but I digress. ;

The fact that 99% of apps follow the interface guidelines is great too. Nothing in windows ever behaves the same.

And it doesn't matter what I do, Windows wants to remind me about...SOMETHING.

Ah well.

Also, I love Front Row - controlling iTunes without using the mouse and keyboard is great, as I don't need to fiddle or click on things.
