Awful. Topher Grace was a terrible cast call for Eddie Brock, Jr. and that isn't to say that there weren't major script issues, awful character development, etc., etc.

It was a movie that is so flawed that I couldn't even enjoy the action, which would've been stupendous had the rest of the movie not existed.

Topher Grace should have been Spiderman.

Seriously.

He's less lame than Tobey McGuire. And I'd agree with that, actually. He'd have been a good Spiderman.

How's the pie WAS awesome awesome awesome.

Gonna leave here in a bit to get in line for the midnight opening for Spider-Man 3. Hopefully it'll be the best one yet, I'm glad that its going to be muuuch darker than the past two.

I haven't seen it yet.... It looks good though

It wasn't absolutely God awful. There were good parts. But the movie also has its fair share of bad parts as well. I felt that there was definitely more action in this one than the others. The others also felt more formulaic than the third one.

Spoiler:
The scenes with symbiote Peter seemed to be right out of 'The Mask' or 'The Nutty Professor'. So corny.

Some scenes were sloppy, rushed, and very cliche.

Spoiler:
When Pete exits the diner, he sees a smiling Harry who disappears after a car passes by. How is that possible?

the only way this series can be revived is if they do a movie based on maximum carnage. (actually, you know what, fuck spiderman. Give Carnage his own movie.)

man that game was awesome. I haven't seen it yet, but due to everyone I know saying it sucks (and me having 0 moneys) I'll wait awhile and pirate it.

But really how can it suck if it has venom

Because it isn't Venom. It is Eric Forevenom.

Well, yeah...VENOM is. Eddie Brock, Jr. you can give some leeway to.

I think he was referring to the arc in the comics the game was loosely based on.

And after a second go around roughly 10 years later, that game really isn't as good as I thought it was. How many times must you fight Carnage anyway?

Sam Raimi hated Venom as a character and a lot of the stuff from the movie(the general direction, enemies, etc.) came from a bunch of different ideas by people on the team.

Kinda the same thing as what happened with Batman and Robin.

I thought it was pretty good aside from me hating Toby McGuire as Spiderman. His exaggerated self-satisfaction reminded me of the Bay Area people sniffing their own farts in the South Park episode "Smug Alert." It was surreal how into himself he acted to the point where it was disgusting. And that shows that either there was bad writing or bad acting, b/c it's just stupid.

Spoiler:
Aside from that... this is the one where the villains just can't manage to stay dead. Plus, given that MJ knows Peter Parker is Spiderman I don't see why he can't just be honest with her about what he's up to and who he's fighting/killing (i.e. Harry?) I can understand not wanting to make her worried but he should have been more interested in protecting her.

Yeah, they could have done it way better there. I mean, at least later on he realizes "OMG I was a total ass!" but he lets his fame make him so self-absorbed to the point where I just want to slap him for being so retarded. As for whether it was bad writing or bad acting, I'm leaning towards bad writing. It felt like they couldn't think of anything better to do for Peter to "not be ready for MJ yet" so they just had him treat her like crap.

I still think the movie was awesome though, but I also really need to watch the other two again, I haven't seen them in a while. After thinking about it, I have a feeling once I see the first one again, I'm going to realize it's actually still the best film of the trilogy.

Yeah.... these Marvel adaptation films seem to have a pattern so far of being good for one movie and a sequel. The third always seems shaky. We'll see with the Fantastic 4 if they ever make a 3rd.

Even my father took the kids to see it, and the feeling was pretty much clear -- it sucked.

The kids enjoyed it, but then again they're 5 years old and have no sense of style.
