Yeah, that's why I'm hoping college will weed out the dickwads.

There's also some false hope in the back of my mind that they'll finally mature.

...This is why i'm glad i'm homeschooled. Lack of human retardation. ...Well, not for long anyway. As i'll prolly' be goin' to regular schools again sometime in the near future, but, meh.

Homeschooling > "normal" schools, by a mile.

Of course college will sort out the dickwabs. College isn't free, so the dickwads who don't want to go to school to learn won't go there. Joy.

Also, there's no PE, which is even better.

PE is simple: you go to class, don't skip it too often, and throw some balls around, and you get a 100.

Drama is the same: don't skip class, make lame puppets, get an A.

Health and Parenting were another story, though. Projects up the ass

These 14 montha of HS left are gonna be pretty sweet

Eh, except in Quebec. You don't need a lot of money at ALL (maybe $400/year max?) to go to college - then again, the hierarchy goes high school -> college -> uni.

Not in Norway you don't.

I almost failed PE in high school. Sad, I know

Oh god, I hated PE. Most of the stupid jocks got mad at me for losing a game when I'm forced to play football or baseball with them. Wtf, not like you win anything in that game so I don't see what was the big deal of whether we win or lose? I eventually dropped out of that class because I can stand them.

Sigh.

So what's the difference between college and uni? They're one in the same here... unless you go to a junior college, which isn't actually a "university."

College is ridiculously expensive here.

I dunno, I'm home schooled and really, I hate the lack of seeing people my age. Then again, paint ball is a frigging blast, so I guess I'm just bitching. But lack of socialization is a problem with homeschooling, I say.

Better Idea: Screw all schooling.

I mean, why do I need to remember the earliest year we were in existence, anyway? Do we have a time travel watch or, nay, a Tardis?

My only problem with schooling is that there's too much focus on "what happened then" (i.e., the exact shade of turd George Washington released in 1776) and not enough on "what's happening now".

Seriously, no one cares that Dr. Fraud died in 1978 after ingesting 500 pounds of burritos. We just need to actually, you know, learn what mattered.

No one's going to ask the exact date the internet was discovered, so why bother learning it? (Albeit, a general range and some information e.g. "made several years ago by a group of xintists" is useful)

Why in the world would you screw all schooling?

Getting an education is probably one of the greatest things you can do for yourself in life. You're not going to get anywhere without a solid head on your shoulders, as well as the social skills and respect you learn during these years. You should be more appreciative. >8(

Classes like math are still important, though... History I think is required too often, unless you're interested in it theres no real reason to know more than the basics.

I agree with Xk, and therefore negate your normative truth statement that education is intrinsically valuable. "Education" is something that marginalizes whoever tries to deviate from the norm, and propagates a mechanical thought process. Therefore, not only does education have very much value, the normalized approach to education is in itself harmful.
Nonetheless, history is easy, it all fits together.

Okay then, in your next life don't go to school, don't learn to read or write (at least not properly), and don't benefit from all that comes with a public education. Tell me how far you get in today's society without those benefits.

That leaves a predicament! How do you come back here in your next life? You normally don't remember those kinda things. :<

Next life? Bah, since when has there been one? When you die, you're going to be stuck in some alternate dimension with NO memory and NO chance of regaining that memory. And if you want to prove me wrong, go there and back. Only then will I believe you.

There should be more focus on the basic subjects... especially English. The government here tells you what concepts you need to teach the kids and leaves little if any room for things not on that list - like grammar.
