Rain smells nice. Snow just sits there and makes it really bright on a sunny day. Give me rain any day. |

Thunderstorms are alright as long as there isn't any blackouts. The longest blackout I had was when Hurricane Charley hit us back in 1998. The blackout only lasted a few days though. I didn't have to go to school for 2 weeks when that happened. |

The longest blackout I had was the one that hit the Northeast in summer 2003... |

Yeah, the Thumb (where I lived at the time) was somewhat of a power island for most of it. So we lost power for only a few hours when most of the state was out for days. |

The longest my power has been out is a few hours. I guess I'm lucky. As for thunderstorms, I don't have a problem with the actual weather unless I'm trying to sleep, but I don't want to risk frying any computers or consoles, etc. so I go an turn off and unplug them all, I'm kinda paranoid about my electronic stuff. This means that a bad enough thunderstorm leaves me bereft of anything to do but portable games(still good, but no internet, boo), no electronics, I'm not going outside in a T-storm, and since we get satellite TV, a T-storm bad enough to scare me into "Unplug EVERYTHING!!!!!1111" mode is certainly bad enough to take out our TV. Thunderstorms means either lack of sleep or I need to stop what I was doing beforehand(unless it was on a portable) right away. ____________________ There are things I want to put here. Like a cool picture, my 8-bit theatre character test result, my MS and RO characters... But it's 12 AM, and I'm sleepy. |

Thunderstorms are pretty awesome (I was born during one ), but long power failures are not. When I lived in the country we had a small hurricane that knocked it out for a week. Propane lamps, milk going bad, fallen trees and flooded roads everywhere. Not fun. |

I don't mind thunderstorms much, as long as they don't knock out the power. I like being on my compy, and I have a mini-server running on this box.
That said, I taught myself how to program during a week-long power outage due to lack of anything else to do, so I guess it's not all bad. |

Week-long power outage?
I've never experienced that, and here, it'd be a slow death for all parties involved ____________________ I dealt with it. |

Posted by XkeeperYeah, a tree fell on the power lines down the street. It cut off power to everyone on the block (possibly farther, I forget) for a week. Thankfully it was late May, so no school nor heat to worry about But yeah, if it had happened in June/July/August it would have been awful. |

I've been without power for days a few times over here during some horrible ice storms. But, its pretty rare ... like once every 5 years, if even?
Man it'd be so boring. |

The only thing I can do in my house during a blackout that doesn't use electricity is playing my DS. Even then, I usually play it when I'm out of the house so that leaves me with pretty much nothing to do. |

I honestly couldn't imagine a power outage lasting longer than a few hours. After all, I rot on the computer unless I am working or out doing stuff. There is hardly much to do in this house, anyway.
The longest power outage I have ever experienced was about 5 hours. I was little and ended up playing games with my parents the rest of the night. ____________________ |

Posted by NinetalesHeh, reminds me of teaching myself OpenGL using only a few simple demos and documents that came with SDL when my Internet connection was down for a few days. But where exactly did you get the electricity to run your computer? |

Posted by HyperHackerI didn't use a computer, I used my mom's TI-82.Posted by NinetalesHeh, reminds me of teaching myself OpenGL using only a few simple demos and documents that came with SDL when my Internet connection was down for a few days. But where exactly did you get the electricity to run your computer? Got a golf game running on it in 5 days via messing with the programming functions. Looking back on it I'm not entirely sure how I pulled it off, but I did. |

Ah, the TI-8x series. I spent all of geometry class writing shit like Pong on those. Now I regret it. |

Yeah, those things are fun to fiddle around with. When I found out they can be programmed, I wrote a silly little program that asks if you eat worms. I tried making a game once, but it ran really slowly and I couldn't speed it up to an acceptable pace. |
