Well, I have a test in my Chemistry class tomorrow, and that's probably one of two subjects I like

And I want to be able to once again ride my bike to school. I think this reduced amount of exercise has been having some detrimental effects on me.

What's the other subject you like?

Err...the question was directed to Katelyn.

My favourite subjects are anything dealing with math or computers, and I tend to not like English or humanities classes very much, although that depends on the teacher more than anything else.

Same here. I never really liked English class because of the teachers...

That's why there are things called books.

Yeah, but reading books by force sucks and is boring.

Reading for fun is not, but by being forced to read generic material, there really is so little time.

Unless you're being forced to read War and Peace, I'm sure that you have leisure time you could spend reading. Even if you're reading War and Peace, I'm sure you have time to appreciate it.

Right now, we're reading George Orwell's 1984 in English class. At least it's better than War and Peace...

Don't get me wrong, War and Peace is not a bad book, it's just a tad long. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is pretty long too, but it's contemporary and easier to read in many aspects. 1984 I thought was a well-written, if perhaps not a "fun," book.

I read 1984 in high school and thought it had an important message but was just too depressing for me.

Animal Farm isn't much less depressing, although it's a bit shorter to read. I think Orwell didn't want to splice any words in creating the impression that he did, so that message isn't all too subtle.

I just keep remembering Charlie Brown reading War and Peace whenever I think of the book, which scares me off it. Too long.

We just finished The Canterbury Tales in Major British Writers. (Not the Middle English version, luckily.) It was actually a lot better than I thought it would be - some of the tales were actually funny. We'll be reading 1984 later this year.
