These might help you if you ever decide to port from MIDI.

And if anyone can help me, I'd love to have a list of the instruments that SMW uses (MIDI format please)

FF7 Boss Theme
Kirby Super Star Boss Theme
MMX6: Infinity Mijinion Stage BGM
MMX1: Boomer Kuwanger Stage BGM

Oh, and BTW, these are in SMW instruments mostly. The last one is NICE, you oughtta listen to it just once at least.

I personaly love how people request music that would not work at all in a Mario game. FF7? Come on ._.;;

I personally don't care what you think, I may be using it in MY hack at a future point.

Did you even listen to it?

I'm just saying that the batlte theme from FF7 could never really work in a game like Mario. You might not care what I think and it may be used in your hack, but that doesn't mean it works. Just like if someone used an out of place Ex-gfx that just clearly clashed.

Give it a try... sound's like an "escape" kind of level doesn't it? If not, put your thinking caps on. There's a use for everything.

Just look at the "Joke Hacks." They use horrible clasing ExGFX and people download and play them, don't they? It's just for fun, Aipom...

And did you listen to ANY of them?

Dont you realise due to the space of SMW music bank and the fact that only spc format music can be ported that the ff7 music is impossible?

He said if you were to do it by hand, try not to talk if you don't know what you're talking about =O

And I did listen to them, besides I know what all those songs sound like any way. I played with music hacking a little bit, I know SMW have such limited instrument sounds that you would be lucky getting most "epic" songs like that to sound proper....

Didn't you read the previous posts? These are MIDI files, which could be manually remade in N-SPC, provided that the MIDIs only use 8 of the 16 channels. (N-SPC only supports a maximum of 8 channels)

For some reason, the KSS Boss theme MIDI sounds slightly off. I really do like that last one, but I don't know if it'll fit this patch(not that there isn't enough space, but the style). Then again, the tracks I have in do have varying styles, but that what happens when you port music in from various games.

For the second time, we really must stay on topic, which is the SMB2 music patch! I don't want this thread to be closed until I have released the patch and people have tested it.

There are exactly 22 samples in SMAS, which isn't that limited.

-end of post removed, as it is now useless since Keitaro posted a complete list-

this page made no-one notice my earlier post, maybe the Dr. Mario theme 1 (fever) from Dr. Mario and tetris pack might be a good idea for the special world, I think it would sound better with SMAS isntruments too

insectduel didn't make it. I started it and SSM finished it, although not very well ._.'

Mattrizzle, you fucking rock. Seriously. I appreciate so much that it's finally possible to have SMB2 music in a hack! Do you think it would be possible to insert some of this music into games that already have SMB1&3 music?

And about filling in the rest of the tracks...

Yoshi's Island - Make Eggs
Yoshi's Island - Cave
Yoshi's Island - Castle
Yoshi's Island - Hop hop

And F-Zero Mute City & Big Blue would just be lol

I have to agree with Pac, those songs should be what goes in there as extra, hearing the same overworld music for every level is nuts, same with underground and castles and ghost houses.

So, let us know when your done adding what ever as extra.
This is exactly what i need for my Toad hack i have been working on for i do not know how long.
I quit working on it because of my dislike of the music available.

You canot fit those themes into your hack. They are too long and/or dont loop enough and use to many instruments or instruments that SMW doesent have.
I can understand importing alot of music into YI due to the large music bank(They made copies of songs in the music bank 0_o.Strange but true....)But SMW is shitty, errr i mean very very very awsome and does not have a big music bank.

Um, yeah.. whatever.

Anything is possible as i see it in the realm of hacking.

He already put some songs in it, if he has the knowlage he can fit more.

Then if not those songs, something close.
I just do not see final fantasy music or a lot of other music mentioned , working well with what is there already.

What else is there?
I mean, their is already a patch for SMB3 music.

That is becuase SMAS uses the same music format as smw and technicly since there was a smas+world, the music can be imported easily due to both smw and smas being in the same game

Yeah, I know about the lack of variety in the SMB2 music. I was actually thinking about adding the SMB underground music and altering it to make it sound like the SMB2 prototype underground music.
To anyone who's reading this: I need more ideas for what to put in those repeated slots, as well as more map screen music.

Here's an incomplete list of games that use the N-SPC engine:
Arkanoid: Doh it Again
F-Zero
F-Zero 2
Kirby's Dream Course
Kirby Super Star
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Mario Paint
Sim City
SNES Test ROM
Star Fox
Stunt Race FX
Super Mario All-Stars(of course)
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Metroid
Super Scope 6/Nintendo Scope 6
Tetris & Dr. Mario
Tetris 2+Bombliss
Yoshi's Cookie
Yoshi's Safari

Games which use a cryptic variant of the N-SPC format:
Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack
Pilotwings
Super Mario World

Look in that list and well.. yeah.. just look in there.
Why would he put it in the list if he can not use it?

Actually, the SMAS+SMW ROM still has both the SMW and SMAS engines in it separately. They don't use the same format as each other, thus can't be imported easily.

Those are the games with the N-SPC format, not games that can import into smw.

back on topic:
what scurrent progres? How much % is finished?
I am anxious to try it out!

Triclyde's fire spitting is no different than the Bowser Statue fireball sound, nor are the Birdo spitting and SMB2 growing sounds any different than the Yoshi spitting and SMW growing sounds.

Ah, I was probably hearing these differently in my head since I've played the NES SMB2 more recently than the All-Stars version.

A quick thought on the desert map music: Maybe you could use the Doki Doki Panic star or subspace music? They both have a very Arabian sound to them and loop pretty quickly. I don't know how hard it would be for you to convert them into the proper format, but it might be nice to keep the music "in the family" wherever possible.

03: *ending pt. 3*(I'd like to add an arrangement of track 02 which sounds similar to the SMB3 ending as the enemies are being shown, but I'm not sure if I can do it)

Ooh, that would be awesome! Maybe you ought to team up with a midi composer to arrange this for you, and you could use your expertise to add it into the game.

Bouche did SMAS SPCs of the DDP music, I'll try and dig them up if neccesary.
