So, second half of the season's starting up, trade deadline is a few days away, and it's time for those playoff pushes for your favorite teams. Shaq is back, Tim Hardaway's backpedaling from his anti-gay outburst, and Jason Kidd might be going to the Lakers. Obviously, now's as good a time as any to get this thread back!

The Tim Hardaway deal is the thing that really disgusts me; the man gave (what I think) was his sincere opinion, and while it was hateful, the least he could have done was stand by his words and take criticism in the jaw. However, now he claims he's a good guy, and he doesn't "hate gay people" at all. So, are we to take his words at face value now, even though if we do so, we're ignoring his earlier statements? Also, I've heard a lot of estimations about how athletes in general feel about having a gay teammate in the locker room. What does everyone thing is the consensus opinion concerning this? Is it more of a Hardaway-type attitude or more accepting?

My sole focus is the race for the top spost in the Western Conference and the return of Yao Ming.

I'm a fan of the Rockets and I am anxious to see what Yao and T-Mac can actually do together. The beginning of the season was okay for them, they should've gotten T-Mac more involved scoring wise though.

Also, Scottie Pippen should go to Miami. Just collect all the old players at one spot. Dwyane Wade Featuring The Grandpa's.

Trust me. It will happen.

KG should be traded as well. Not that they will, but they should. Poor KG.

I really hated the NBA All-Star game. This was the first one I've watched in some time, and it was just a huge waste.

No fouls, all dunks/three pointers, the only guy that looked like he cared was Jermaine O'Neal...no idea why he was all hot and bothered.

As for the whole Pippen scenario...yeah. I say he goes to the Raptors if he goes anywhere, and his line will be like 20 minutes, 6 points, 4 assists, and maybe a steal.

I totally agree with you here. It's worse than an "exhibition", because the only thing being shown off is what the best players in the world can do when nobody defends them. Then again, more and more, All-Star games are becoming more pointless in all sports because athletes don't have any pride in just winning, either for their conference or what-have-you. I was watching the older NBA All-Star games on ESPN classic beforehand, and watching the Bird-Magic Johnson games was much more fun; these guys had pride and wanted to win. The only All-Star game worth watching anymore would be the MLB one, for me, because it's worth something (Home field in the WS) and guys pretty much have to try.

I agree with both of you. Very lackluster.

Funny though how at first it is a team-"effort" suddenly, Kobe just decides to shoot more and pass less.

No offense to him, I would've just liked to see more people get involved. Yeah, I'm aware of the need to stand out to win the MVP but I guess I am bias since I am not a huge fan of Kobe.

Also, nice job for Jermaine O'neal in the tip in.

Wrong basket, but the effort was appreciated.

Yep. It's a shame really, because I would have loved to see D-Wade, Lebron, and Shaq go head to head with Kobe, Melo, and KG. But no. It's so much better to have a game be decided by alley oops and crap like that.

Trade deadline came and it was a dud.

Nothing spectacular happened. Damn you espn.com for sucking me and hyping it up

Also, D-Wade injured his shoulder in a game against the Rockets (Miami lost by the way ).

Pat Riley came back but what good can he do now? I mean, they might manage but without Wade not much hope he can have. In with Riley, out with Wade.

Losing D-Wade makes the Eastern Conference worse. As if that were possible. Detroit may be pretty damn good, but I'd take probably the top 5 Western Conference teams over any Eastern Conference team at this point.

Why must NBA players be so violent?

Guess who was involved in it this time...

Artest makes me laugh. I'm (sadly) a Pacers fan (supporting a petition to crucify Jamal Tinsley). I hope Tru Warrior suffers well for this.

Ron Artest is a dope, that's all. If the Sixers pick him up, I'm done with them.

Speaking of... the Sixers should lose, I want a good player from this year's draft.

Also, Dallas is really good. Imagine if they had won one or two of their first four games!
