yeah that boss was a bitch huh? lol. none of the bosses in this game are anything like the wily bosses. I went extremely overboard in the 1st Ultra. i tried making the game without players requiring save states, but that failed, lol.
I also want to say again, that everything is going to be different. I'm dealing with a bigger rom, than MM2. The levels in MM2 are extrememly small, where as in MM4, they're extremely huge. Level designs will not be a problem in this hack. I have some incredible ideas that I was unable to do in MM2, but I'm able to do now. Furthermore, I'd just like to say Thank You, to everyone for their conintued interest in this hack. Dr.Mario - Are you talking about putting the green shadows under the letters, like the ones you see in the actual Mega Man logo? |

I have very little experience with this, so I can't give you too much help (it's all based on what I remember from working on Mega Man 1's boss select screen 2 years ago). It's centered in the name table, which is great. See those two lines that intersect at the top left of the main part of the logo? The intersection is (00,00), so that's why what you see onscreen is still not centered. I have no idea how to change where that appears, since Mega Man 1 already did that for me and thus I had no reason to reverse engineer that. Check some documents for information on defining which portion of the name table is displayed onscreen.
Also, your code in the first post for defining the palettes is horribly inefficient, space-wise. Try using a loop and a table, like this: LDX #$20 L_PalInit: LDA table-1,X STA $2007 DEX BNE L_PalInit table dc.b $0D,$0C,$0B,$01,$0A,$09,$08,$01,$07,$06,$05,$01,$2B,$08,$0D,$01,$0D,$0C,$0B,$01,$0A,$09,$08,$01,$08,$07,$06,$05,$04,$03,$02,$01 table is your palette data in reverse (reverse, since the loop is counting down instead of up). This saves a lot of space. |

OK, this is the final update to the beta that i'm doing. Thank you Thanatos-Zero for pointing out the warning & mm gfx glitch. This final ips includes...
1) The fixed warning logo when returning to chill penguin 2) megaman's gfx are now fixed when hit by chill penguin 3) chill penguins music "fades" when entering his room Now Thanatos-Zero, let me try to answer everything you posted. -When Chill Pinguin make his appearance and presents himself to the player, a hole in his body can be seen. You may have used the BG Colour on him by accident. Change that. This is due to me exceeding the 8 tile sprite limit. chill penguin has alot of tiles being used to display different colors and such. He's a fat bastard, and it doesnt help that megaman's lower body uses 3 tiles, then add about 6 to 7 for chill's lower section. -When Rock gets damaged, a hand or something appears behind him in his colours. Remove that please. Fixed - If you lose against the boss and challenges against him again, the warning won't stop. Fixed -The Warning is to near on the Buster Icon. Move the Warning 8 or 16 pixels more to right. I'm keeping it this way. Im comfortable with this position. I actualy have this positioned perfectly in MegaFLEX. During my testing of this, I actualy had it centered in the middle of the room, but I didn't like it that way. If you watch any warning screen in Megaman X4, its high up, like the way i have it. And if you fight Web Spider, you'll see part of the W hidden behind MM's health & weapon bar. So...I'm keeping it this way because I like it. -Try to make the Warning appear like in X4, first the letters from left to right and than let the underline appear in the middle, which will fill left and right simultanly in the same moment. Also make the Warning sound a bit slower, in order to made it more dramatic. The sound should be then repeated 3 or 4 times ( 4 or 5 at all). This is very space consuming to attempt, and I'm severly limited if you can believe it or not with this rom being expanded. I would have to perform several chr page swappings to perform it, and I wouldn't have been able to. I was actualy attemping to have it appear from left to right with a nametable refresh, but I was having problems keeping the upper left nametable as the boss room, and try to make the upper right nametable as the WARNING screen. Cause in Megaman 4, the nametable refresh does a slow wipe from left to right. It was perfect, but it just couldnt work. So the way you see it now in the beta, is most likely going to be the last time i screw with it. -Do not forget to make the Stage music to disappear. It would make the Warning more cool and then Boss music shall appear after the Darkness. I only did this now cause you asked. Down the road i was going to, but I figured i'd just get it out of the way now. The code I wrote for the warning asm is about 1A0 bytes, pretty big. There's still no boss music cause I'm not done with the sound engine. So dont be surprised to hear no boss music, cause there is none. -One last thing, give Chill Pinguin his Boss Invincible Time back. Also, his Healtmeter won't go down. However, he can die. I hope that helps you.^^ This was a pretty major glitch in my hack. I have major mini-bosses that I was able to design custom asm for, and use the boss meters, and they would work correctly. For some reason my 8 robot masters health meters were not depleting. The reason why chill penguin was so easy to defeat, was because it was depleting only it's HP, and not going through the entire asm of also depleting his health meter. So I found the problem, and now everyone is back to normal in my hack. IIRC, MM7 has a sprite viewer built into it that can be accessed via a special password or gamegenie code. At any rate this sprite viewer might be useful for finding object data and OAM stuff.

i have finaly found some time to finnish my hack of mega man 4. its very buggy(graphic) but iam no programmer so i have no knowledge of fixing things that are the way they are. there wont probably be any more realese, or update. however if people likes this there will maybe be a maverick revenge 2 or something. it would be nice if there was an mega man x editor so i can play around with snes graphics next time also
anyway.. the name maverick revenge is a bit wrong, because there are no mavericks in this one. i wanted to put in some mavericks but i didnt think it would be as hard as it is. but i had already made a logo so i decided i would still keep the name. there is no story or anything in this hack, no intro whatsoever. just pure gaming!(witch i think is alright because this is my first hack ever) thanx to matrix for some hex help and thanx for the editor megafle, without it this would never had happened. anyways.. good gaming! http://acmlm.no-ip.org/uploader/get.php? and it should be pathed with the usa version of mega man 4! |

I decided I will take that name "Odyssey" for this game. I really like it. So then after 4 years it's finally the official name of this hack.
But i still want a sub-title, but i dont ever know what I want it to be since I dont have a true storyline yet, but this game WILL have storyline since i've got those text scripts i coded along time ago that i can activate at any time or place, in levels and stuff. I also would like to have the megaman III logo on the title redrawn and stuff, but again i dont know what the sub-title name will be. I do plan on wanting to have both a japanese and english logo. Rockman and Megaman Odyssey depending on the game language setting that the player chooses. Speedremix might be able to draw the logo design, but im not positive. |

Hi. I don't know if anyone here will remember me but I'm from way back on acmlm's original board. As in when the original Second Reality Project was the benchmark for Good Hacking.
I figured I'd come back to show off what i've been working on. Photos are at the bottom, just Ctrl+F "PHOTOS" if you want to see them without wading through a wall of text. I just figured I'd talk about the hack a bit so that people realize that yes, this is a serious game. You can get the first demo here. A second demo should be out on June 5th. INTRO --- I'm basically trying to make a completely new game with the Super Mario World engine. It's pretty great. The atmosphere of Season of Glass is heavily influenced by Earthbound. Earthbound (Mother 2) is named after a song by John Lennon and was picked specifically because it doesn't sound like a video game title. Season of Glass is named after a Yoko Ono song and was picked specifically because it doesn't sound like a video game title. I like the idea of Earthbound. The battle music sounds about 10 years ahead of its time. Listen to these two songs and tell me he doesn't sound influenced by earthbound at all. Earthbound Flying Lotus I like the plot, I like the character designs, I like the fact the game has a sense of humor. The only problem is that I hate RPGs with a passion. I do not like pressing one button for 60 hours. The best way to describe Season of Glass is Earthbound but a brutally hard platformer. It's not as bad as I Wanna Be The Guy. It's closer to Battletoads with infinite lives. (As a note, whenever the characters speak with improper grammar or with stilted diction, like the King of Lazers, it's deliberate. You'll see why when the game is finished...) MUSIC --- I'm planning on making every piece of music in this game custom. I'm trying to go for a somewhat gloomy/trippy feel for evertyhing in the game. Here are the SPCs for the first few songs I've finished. MY CASTLE IS LIE! The Illusion World in Season of Glass takes place in several magical castles. They are not like castles in other hacks that are at the end of worlds because all of them share the same gimmick: Most of the castle is an illusion. These illusions are very diverse, ranging from having the exit constantly move out of reach to forcing Garfunkle to rely on Splats to determine what is real or fake (Splats only make illusory ground shake when they hit a wall) As a result it's more disorienting than intimidating. 420/Season%20of%20Glass.spc>Season of Glass This is the theme song for Season of Glass. It's very simple but...touching? It's supposed to bring to mind the music of GOOD RPGs. It's supposed to make you very sad but be uplifting at the same time. Garfunkle Goes Forth This is the music for the introductory world of the game. I'm pretty happy with how it sounds but i'll probably fool around with the echo commands because I don't like how much echo is on the percussion. Kimochi Warui! This is the music for the water world. It is a place that is flooded with orange goo. Crystal islands pop up from the water and there is an cave system beneath the waves. Happy Fun Swamp (Work in Progress) This is the theme for the bayou world, which is analogous to lava caves in other games (the swamp water is acidic). Despite the fact that it's a very dangerous place, the atmosphere is relatively cheery. This song is going through a massive revamp. 444/Welcome%20to%20Art%20City!.spc>Welcome to Art City (Have a Slurpee) Art City is a frozen wasteland. Things live in it, sure, but it is a shadow of its former self and always awash in a sick orange/purple glow. there is a real true reason and answer to this whole thing.
i remember seeing on TV once before on an episode of "game makers" on the G4TV channel a few years ago that was all about mega man, and featured a ton of scenes and stuff of keiji inafune drawing the rockman logo, mm, and mm1 robot masters all on pencil and paper from very many years ago, and personally stating in his own words how he came up with "rock man" i dont remember the episode cause it was soooo long ago but he would say something like he grew up as a child in his life loving rock and roll music and various rock music bands or something, which is why he came up with rockman and roll (mm's sister) |

You should try to assemble the mugshots and change palette sets for them.

Touching up the title and menu screens while drawing tilesets (while discarding most of the graphics I drew...) Note that the MM10 Stage Select graphics is only a placeholder.

BTW, how to disable this picture of Mega, huh..? 4645> - Snake Man's tileset is done and imported. - Wily 1 tileset 70% complete. - Hard Man is mostly complete, misses some enemies, needs improved enemy placement, items are missing from checkpoint, background is not complete. - Gemini Man tileset 30% complete. Gemini Man's stage will be remade. - Needle Man tileset complete, not imported. - Wily 2-3-4 tlesets are complete, imported. - Spark Man's stage is now complete, but has no background. I think I even have two more tileset than I actually need... Maybe I'll use them for the Doc Robot stages, to make the stages more different. That's all for now...
