Okay, I've been planning (evilly, of course) and I have this question:

Unknown Items 1, 2 and 3 are the Plasma Beam, Space Jump and Gravity Suit, not necessarily in that order. Is it possible to get the Unknown Item that is the Gravity Suit, have Samus gain the "Fully Powered Suit" after and then find the other Unknown Items later, immediately gaining the Plasma Beam and Space Jump?

So it's like, you get the Unknown Item that is really the Gravity Suit, and then you defeat the Chozo Spirits, you get the actual Gravity Suit and then later you find the other Unknown Items, but you actually get the Plasma Beam and Space Jump. If so, my game just got so much awesomer

Hey. I started up Metroid Eclipse (my Super Metroid hack, if you couldn't tell) again and am in need of serious help...

Basically, I'm confused on how to work SMILE. I know that it's not completed yet, but I figure the quicker I learn it the better chance I'll have of making a good hack when it comes out.

I currently have SMILE ver .70.

Basically, I'm confused on a few things, namely:
1) PLMs. I don't know how to add them without my game freezing or anything about scrolling ones at all.
2) The Door Editor. I have no freaking clue how to work it, at all.
3) Elevators. Not yet, but the first area of my game requires one X_X
4) Why are all the enemies Guards from Chrono Trigger? O-o

Anyone with SM experience please help me with this, Super Metroid is high up there on my favorite games list and I want to hack it, after seeing what could be done with it (points at Drewseph's hack)...

Let's say I want to incorporate a Maridia-like area into Zero Mission. Will future abilities allow for ExGFX or something, so I can import Maridia tiles and backgrounds?

I dunno if you got my earlier message, it was at the bottom of a page:
will this editor support bg/fg graphic insertion? (a.k.a. ExGFX, say, Maridia tiles and backgrounds from Super Metroid)

If so, that'd be awesome, if not, I can work around it.

No, he's talking about the walls where they look like walls but act like air, and when you jump into them they become transparent and then invisible and you can see Samus and her surroundings behind them.

I dunno. Demos barely get feedback, is all, and the real reason we're all on this forum is to hack games and then show off.

As I've learned the hard way, middle-of-a-world Demos get very bad feedback. Complete World 3 or something, and then don't release it again (except for a few beta testers, maybe) until you're done.

A demo at half completion and then the final.

I really want to play it, but my ZSNES is effed up...yes, I'm using ver. 1.36.

It says "16 Bit Color" or something, and then the game won't load, and ZSNES freezes up.

Eh...?

I've just recieved a copy of the editor from Interdpth, and damn, is it awesome. The maps are really well designed and it looks as though the levels will be very user-friendly to edit. Me personally, I'm waiting for the map editor ...really, the amount of progress made in this editor is overwhelming.

We'll be holding our breath for your next update, Interdpth.

There is, really. I mean, the fact that MZM can support water rooms yet uses them twice annoys me, which is why I'm making Maridia. Using the infinite elevator thing Jigglysaint mentioned allows me to make Sanctuary Fortress. MZM allows for so much stuff, it's unbelievable.

Oh, well, I knew you could edit the types of enemies, jeez...(isn't THAT much of an idiot)...it was just that the earlier versions showed the real enemies and now they're all "Unknown"s.

Recompression halfway done? SWEET!

Just to clarify, recompression is the actual act of saving the edited room/level to the rom, right?

Well, I finally got it working. Here's my review:

10/10. Easily.

Being a Metroid addict myself, I can do nothing less than commemorate you fully on the work you've put into this hack. If I can make a Metroid hack half of what this is, then I'm happy with it.

You are my inspiration, honestly. The way your maps are designed is absolutely stunning, something I've always tried to achieve. Another thing you do that I want to is hide power-ups all over the place without any linear path to them, this game actually makes you think, something not known in today's games. Although I'm still trying to get the Ice Beam (are you supposed to run through Norfair without the Varia Suit? That HURTS...) I can tell you that the real reason I'm not playing further right now is because I'll get too inspired, my rooms will look like yours and I'll have to redesign them. Damn it...

But the power-ups, the maps, the rooms, it's brilliant! Thanks to your hack I know what regulations to set my own against, and how to efficiently hide power-ups without a linear path to them. You've returned the beautiful taste of old Metroid games and for that you are officially one of the greatest hackers ever.

If I ever need help designing maps or rooms, it's you I'll turn to first.

(I, the 13th Prodigy, am the first comment on the thirteenth page! That's just awesome.)
