Hey people,

I'm pretty new here, but besides that I need another coder fluent in 65c816 to assist me while I code my homebrew game. It's a pretty big game, like your average Adventure/RPG, except it's being coded in Assembly. Yay!

Maybe afterwards I'll make an SDK so people stupid as me won't be going about it so hard and they can use that to make their lives easier.

Anyways, I got a few projects lined up but I only need a coder or 2 for this. Note that very little coding will be done by this assistant, because since I have no real hands on experience with coding I'll need someone to push me in the right direction for when I code it.

I have a small, shitty website you can check out if you like:

http://www.freewebs.com/consoledev/

Development is in the very beginner stages, but the story is progressing fairly fast. So give me a shout and I'll get back to you

Kinda dumb to compare God to Santa, isn't it?

Anyways, I'm christian. My faith is in God, at least. I don't follow many traditions of the Christians like fasting or going to church often, but I believe he exists, or may have existed at one point.

I could ramble on and on, but thats all I have to say to this topic...

Everything dies. Just like the Byzantine and Ottoman Empire's did, so will America, in the sense of it's global superiority.

We know the man in the red suit doesn't exist. How could he? It's impossible to travel so far so fast, and plus I've seen my parents put presents under the tree many times. None of them are from Santa, as they all have a label of who they're to and who they're from.

As for a higher sentient creating life, God probably terraformed this planet into what it is at 12,000 BC. People wonder how he could have created the universe, when the bible doesn't even say he did so. Earth was probably a barren wasteland before he came here, and this being the closest planet that could sustain life, he remolded the world and created Eden.

Thats the only way I could explain Dinosaurs and pre-biblical life. There is also a spike in technological advance during that period too, so perhaps Adam and Eve (Or their offspring) mated with the life pre-existant on Earth.

Fansubs are illegal. No going around it. But for the Fansubs not Copyrighted here in North America, Fansubs are an AMAZING way of making a name for the anime you have created. Why do you think Animesuki has been up for so long? Hell, if they could, anime producers would probably endorse Animesuki. It's an awesome service.

I myself am a pirate. I download movies, games, roms, anything you can name that interests me. Hell, as we speak I'm downloading Harry Potter 4 and Megaman X8 for the PC.

It's an issue the copyright management companies like the RIAA and the MPAA need to understand. Of 30 million who watch movies, at least 70% of them buy their movies. The rest pirate. Thats a gross profit of 450 million dollars canadian, if each DVD is 15 bucks.

They're just upset because they're not making maximum profit. Meanwhile, there are people starving on the streets all across the world.

This is why I support Socialism. Capitalism is a crock of shit.

The SPC-700 on the SNES is what processes each sound coming through the SNES. Although it is onboard the motherboard, it is completely independent of the rest of the components. It has it's own instruction set, and it has the capacity to play 8 voice samples simultaneously.

It has been long believed by me that each byte passing through the SPC-700 represents a musical note to be played in a specific manner. This is an undeniable fact.

But it dawned on me recently that perhaps the term "Sample" can have many contexts.

Therefore, I theorize that it is possible to have an MP3 play on the SPC-700. If you could insert an MP3 file into a Rom, then save that file, you would therefore be able to locate it, and identify each byte of the music file you inserted. Then you could hack your Rom to send each byte sequentially to the SPC-700, and therefore play the MP3.

This probably won't work on an emulator, simply because of the fact that it probably doesn't emulate the SPC-700 properly. But if I'm right, you could put the file onto a blank cart and try it on a real SNES.

Well basically MP3 is compressed by a methematical algorithm, subtracting an integer of 1 from any set value, I think. You can read up on MDCT or MCDT, whichever it's called. That is the compression algorithm.

You can also bring back the sound quality to 1407 kbps by adding an integer of 1 to the values we subtracted from. But keep in mind that for a SNES game, you probably won't need very many samples going in there, and therefore you could probably use a compression quality of 65 kbps or something.

EDIT: By samples I mean the different sound loops in the music file.

This works especially well with a small loop, like a snare and bass kicker drum roll.

However, I'm sure a format like WAV or something small like that would be best. I'm not even sure if my method I theorized works. It just makes sense, since the SPC-700 was designed to play samples. It could be mandadtory they be compiled into SPC format, which makes it even more imperative someone get their hands on the Super NES Emulator SE program so we can figure out how to compile it that way...

14.4 khz isn't so bad. We have to remember that a CD quality soundtrack can take up at least 60 megs or more at 192 kbps and 44 khz. So trying to minimize the quality would mean you have to simplify the samples within a track.

I think it would be interesting to write a demo to try this. Assemblers can insert files and compile the code into 65816 format, no? just write some code to play the bytes pertaining to the file and voila...DRM would work good too eh?

Is there no other chips on the motherboard that might hint at some MP3 decompression techniques? Maybe chips that haven't been thoroughly analyzed yet?

PS: I need a copier and a blank cart. If anyone has one, PM me.

You know, the MP3 format was created in 1991, the same year as when the Super Nintendo was first shipped to the US and North America. Although the dates might be really close, Nintendo was probably on to this new compression technology by the time it was shipped to North America.

So perhaps Mp3 is out fo the question. But there must have been other formats prior to this...Unfortunately, I don't know where exactly to look. But if we could find out, I'm sure conversion between the two would be simple.

Of course, my original theory still remains possible. Probably not on PAL machines, but a later version like the NTSC one.

This stuff is straight out of sci fi movies. Or at least, thats what everyone would first think when it comes down to stull like Antigravity.

But the thing is, Antigravity has existed since 1919.

The barrier of gravity was beaten in 1919 by a man named Dr. Kowsky. He took a Quartz crystal, and charged it with a shortwave low voltage energy source. With both plates attached to the power device and a perfect cube of quartz crystal, the crystal began levitating and expanding, lifting his entire apparatus and a 55 pound weight.

You've probably wondered why a Quartz is translucent and not Transparent. From what I can tell by research on the net, this translucent property is a superconducting chemical. When the quartz is charged and it begins to heat up, it expands in size and loses it's translucency, becoming completely transparent.

In the experiment Dr. Kowsky did, the cube expanded to 20 times it's size and its weight almost became negative.

Some of you may be familiar with the meissner effect. This is not to be confused with the experiment Dr. Kowsky did, but the effect of it can be similar.

Basically, if you arrange solenoids in a special way, charge them, then place a special superconducting ceramic plate above them, the goal is to get the plate spinning at 5500 RPM's. When that happens, the plate will begin levitating because of a magnetic field repelling the solenoids from the ceramic plate. What's interesting about this is an experiment done recently, where a piece of glass was placed above the ceramic plate, it lost 0.4% of it's mass.

This wouldn't normally seem significant, but it is in fact a very significant loss in weight.

One more discovery I read briefly about is that some insect shells have this same antigravitic property as Quartz does. Since I couldn't find much about this, I have no more info on it, but there's always google

Tonight I'm going to attempt this with the flawless piece of Quartz I have in my room. Wish me luck

Unfortunately, I had to work that day. Tuesday is my day off, and I think I still have an 8mm tape camcorder downstairs in fairly useable condition.

I'll be sure to send you all a copy of this experiment But I have to agree with the critics here, I doubt it will work very well, if at all.

Still worth a shot, though

We will find out Tuesday. If it doesn't work, I have a generator that should output more than the right amount of power.

However, we do know that even if Quartz doesn't work, there are still 2 other methods that defy gravity:

1) The meissner effect thing. Placing a non-conducting material over a superconducting material revolving at high speeds above a power source.

2) Grebbinkoff's theory of some insect shells having a superconductive property which, when charged and heated will defy gravity.

However, one thing that disproves your statement is that Grebbinkoff directly compared his insect shell results to that of Kowsky's Quartz experiment.

Cool I didn't even know about TT Brown, but that looks really interesting. What I like about his experiment is that all of the weight is moved equally, and there is no lack of momentum. No g-forces when you turn or accelerate, etc...

Electrokinetics are widely used these days, though, to convert Electrical Energy to Mechanical Energy. Still, I think thats too complicated an apparatus for me to construct and try

Also, it seems that the recent experiment with the Meissner effect was done by a man named Eugene Podkletnov. His work was not only ridiculed, but he has reaped more pain than profit from his experiments. But it is important to note that he did not defy gravity, he simply blocked it with his experiment apparatus.

Bombardier is currently experimenting with this new technology. Breaking off from Podkletnov's work, they plan on making a device that sends out a pulse of energy that will instantaneously emit 1,000 G's of gravitational force. This vaporize any object in front of the beam, which makes me wonder at the practicality of the device.

Basically, a superconductor charges itself with energy, and when it reaches critical mass, the energy is released, creating the beam of gravitational force.

If it works, I'll be impressed. But it just doesn't seem practical with 1,000 G's of force being exerted all at once. How will it stay afloat? Rockets?

Thats the compression method for MP3. The SPC-700 might not recognize it, but it's simple mathematics. I'm sure with a properly constructed driver, you could play and MP3 on the SNES.

Unfortunately, the forumla is a little complicated for me to figure out on my own. I would need some math experts to help out on that
